LIONS - Conf Champion Losers Prior Year

Teams that lost the Conf Championship game the prior year

Then play at home for the Conference Championship game the next year

12-3 record over the past 30 years.

12 times out of 15 that team goes to the Super Bowl in this given scenario

Which is 80% of the time.

Specifically…if team loses on the road like we did then hosts conference championship game following year

8-2 record over last 30 years.

80% again
team goes to the Super Bowl following year.

It’s our year folks

Cool!
Do we still have to play the games, then?

Yes, because it’s all about the journey not the destination

Dan has already willed this. The team wills it.
The fans will it.
No pep talks needed. We all know what is coming, and this time, it’s not false bravado in the face of defeat.

So what is the stat on teams that lose the championship game then win the Super Bowl? What does the following year look like?

For the 12 out of 15 winners that won at HOME to go to Super Bowl after losing the prior year in the ConfChamp Game…

The record is 7-5 in the Super Bowl.

Of those ^ 8 out of 10 winners that won at HOME to go to the Super Bowl after losing the prior year ConfChamp Game on the road ----

The record is 5-3 in the Super Bowl

(Steelers & Ravens both won on the road the following year not at home…then both won the SB but they don’t count because we aren’t playing on the road this year)

If it weren’t for the injuries, it was definitley our year. Once Alim went down, that was when I really started to worry. I still think we have a fair shot though! Everything is lined up for us.
