The 2019 season opener vs. Auburn is on YouTube. I may watch it sometime. I remember watching it with my pops and we were both stunned with some of the assignments Mario, et. al were giving him. Almost unfair in terms of their expectations of his range. But they wouldn’t have done it if they didn’t think he had a shot to make the block.
I’ve been in an argument elsewhere that what separates Sewell and Wirfs - and it seems like those guys are destined to be compared for awhile - is what Sewell can do on the move. Wirfs is no slouch, but Sewell’s freakish athleticism allows us to sorta build the offense around him. I’m not sure that’s ever happened, and it’s worth its weight in gold. Wirfs is great, probably a better pass blocker and technician, but give me what Sewell brings ten times out of ten.
