wish he would be healthy talented guy
will probably not be excessively expensive to retain tho
I expect other teams to view him the same way and try to utilize the BH coming off injury gamble method signing.
I totally agree with this Alex. He has missed SO much time that will scare off other teams. I think Brad makes a fair multi-year offer to Iffy that he likely takes. He is 26 in May and a loweish dollar offer to stay with the Lions for two years would be perfect for Iffy. He can excel in the D here with a role he is comfortable in and if he kills it here and stays healthy he can get a large contract when he turns 28 in 2027.
No way another team offers a stupid crazy deal for him and if they do, Iffy you gottta walk and take that. I don’t expect that to happen.
I don’t think another team offers Iffy a crazy deal, but I think this is Iffy’s last season as a Lion. It’s always something with him. I think Iffy is a very good chess piece for our defense, but it’s also a replaceable chess piece. I also believe Iffy was not happy that Branch got moved to his spot after Iffy had the very good 2nd half of 2023. I think Iffy took it as a slight, and will go to a team that makes him an unchallenged starter. Facts are we are going to need to save money in places, and continuing to build through the draft gives us the best chance to stay ahead of the salary cap.
One thing to consider: as teams with Lions connections continue to expand, either former front office [Newmark in Wash; Sears in AZ], current front office [Agnew or Dorsey], or coaches [e.g. if Glenn gets a HC job], the market for players from a winning organization with a demonstrated history of personal success will grow.
100% this. How many times did we as Lions fans look forward to poaching fringe guys in Free Agency from elite teams and paying them a ton of money because “they just needed a chance” or “they were squeezed out because of such a talented team”.
I can for sure see Iffy getting a solid contract from a lower tier team because he can put a lot of splash plays and highlight videos on youtube.
You could be right… No way I give Iffy a long term contract. He rarely plays. If a team comes in offering long term money, Holmes is gonna let him walk for sure. The DJ Chark of Safeties. Looks good a couple games per season, then misses 2 months. Arnold is a rookie and has played more snaps in 1 season than Iffy has in 4 years.
Not sure I see a longterm deal for Iffy, however, I won’t be surprised if someone is willing to pay more than Brad is.
Buyer beware…he rarely plays when playing on a 4 year rookie contract. What happens if you pay him?
