Lions Mock Game

Here are the rules. NFLMockDatabase’s aggregator will be the draft board.

In the first round the pick can only be in between two above and four below our pick. In round 2 it’s four above and 8 below. Round 3 is four above and sixteen below and that carries forward that way throughout day 3. I’ll screen shot the lists of guys available for each pick for ease.

Please go through one pick at a time rather than perusing the whole menu and then arrange for the perfect draft.

Who is Robinson? Are you drafting unlisted players?

Landon (167 in the consensus board).

I see it now, When I put my cursor on the list it blacks him out at the bottom.

First off- cool idea and this was hard since I’ve been all for Fano or Miller in round 1, and neither was a choice… However I think I like this more now…

#17- I Vega: the Lions kept 9 OL players last year and right now we have Sewell, Rat, and Mays as long term solutions… We have Borom, Scruggs, and Mahogany giving us 6 “usable” OL players plus some hope in Frazier and Manu… BUT taking Vega in round 1 gives us an elite LT, LG, good C, good RG, a decent option at RT and some solid cheap depth. I have Vegas as a top 3-5 lock to be a plus starter in this draft class.

#50- Gabe Jacas: I love Jacas and fear he won’t fall to our round 2 pick, but I see him as a Karlaftis level producer opposite Hutch…

#118- Jude Bowery: he’s an interesting guy to fill on the puzzle listed above If the Lions can somehow get a great year out of Borom, or catch lightning in a bottle with Bowry, we could be back to an elite OL and YOUNG… mostly cheap

#128- VJ Payne: no brainer pick with our current safety situation

#157- Landon Robinson: sneaky nascar DT, occasionally slides outside

#188- Justin Jefferson: coverage backer who can hopefully compete with Rodrigo and or take role left open by Anzalone… outright

#205- Tanner Koziol: he’s a very interesting option in tbe red zone, and a bit of Laporta insurance

#213- Mason Reiger: relentless motor, sneaky athlete, and could make a nice 4 DE rotation with Jacas, Hutch, Wonnum

#222- Red Murdock: Barnes backup

Lots of CBs… lol

I didn’t expect to see this. I know you like McCoy, but you wouldn’t take an edge or OT in rounds 1-2?

Well I’m a BPA guy, and McCoy and Ponds happen to be two of my biggest crushes. I think both will be superstars.

I would have gone OT but I didn’t like my options in the 1st two rounds. I also think one of Casey, Davis, Borom and Frazier will give us good play at RT.

I was looking edge as well and considered Jacas (he’s the only one), but I just can’t justifty taking him over Ponds. Ponds is the 10th overall player on my board. I like Jacas, but he’s in the late 20s. That’s just not a pick I can make.

CJ Allen

A Hill Jr

K Faulk

G Jacas

B Miller

S Fano

I Vega

Just curious… what are your stances on the above

I like Jacas, Miller and Fano quite a bit. I’m not sure our FO will be big on Fano though. I also like Vega fine, but I think the 1st is too early for an OG this year so I almost never take him. I’m lower than consensus on all the others. Quite a lot lower on Faulk and Hill.

What do you think about a trade down to late

20s grabbing a 2nd and sending a 4th like the one above

I’d be a fan of that draft even if I’m not a huge Allen fan. 28 isn’t terrible value though, but I DO think he’s MIKE only and we’re not gonna be interested in him as early as he’ll go because of that.

I’m always a fan of trading down too, I just don’t think Brad will do it unless the player he’s in love with is considered a “reach” he can still get later, like Gibbs.

Faulk just seems like such an odd crush some have…. 17 reps for a 274 pound DE who needs to wrestle NFL OTs? 2 or less sacks in 2 of 3 Years?

I think that player is Jacas…

could have been Jacas, Ponds, Haulcy or Jacas, Ponds, Whoever
