Broncos’ Theo Riddick: Ready for free agency

by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Riddick (shoulder) has been medically cleared and is set to become an unrestricted free agent, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.

Riddick signed with the Broncos in early August and suffered a shoulder fracture shortly thereafter. He may have been healthy enough to return from injured reserve in the second half of the season, but the Broncos used their two IR activations on Drew Lock and Tim Patrick. The 28-year-old running back now hopes to drum up interest on the open market as a passing-down specialist, a role in which he averaged 4.4 catches per game from 2015 to 2018 with the Lions.

Just kidding. The news of JD McKissic signing elsewhere made me think of the role he played last season and that he was a poor man’s Theo Riddick with better RB skills.

Funny that he’s the one guy that people here aren’t pissing and moaning over losing like they are with Diggs or “fill in the blank player” that now plays elsewhere but was so valuable to our culture. We cut him before game 1 I think and was McKissic even available on the waiver wire yet? Not that I remember.

With that being said, as you mention, we have moved on from both of those guys and that is before we signed their “replacement”. That means that we will replace their roles and production in any number of ways. Here is our most recent depth chart: https://lionswire.usatoday.com/2020/03/19/updated-lions-depth-chart-after-free-agency-moves/

Plenty of similar skill sets in the draft or even picking up a FA RB with that role in mind at a later date.

That’s because he was always hurt like Ziggy. Or were you talking about McKissic.

Personally I wasn’t all that impressed with McKissic.

Riddick had nothing left when he was cut.

His elite skill was making people miss and he couldn’t any more.
