2023 Burden was a big time dude. 2024 not so much. Him, Walker, Scourton … quite a few of those types in this class.
I’m trying not to imagine him on Washington.
True. But on Detroit the end zone celebrations between those two would be all time.
Ford Field end zone turf would end up having a large family.
I watched a lot of the Mizzou offense this year just watching Membou. QB Brady Cook sucked this year, many said he was playing hurt and gritting it out. He just had no zip on the ball. Burden and the other WR Theo Wease who is also a prospect were often wide open but by the time the ball got there it was a contested catch in traffic.
Burden is known for what he can do after the catch but he can also snatch the ball with his hands while on the run. I think the sky is the limit with this guy if he gets with a good QB. There could be a lot more to his game than what we saw in college.
Seen a bunch of DJ Moore comps which makes some sense.
Yeah I’d say that is a very good comp.
Yeah that is a good one. I would have said Deebo Samuel but faster, but I might like that better because I’m with Bubba. I wouldn’t pigeon hole him like some seem to. He’s got hands. Where I like the Deebo comp is that he is much more densely built than I first thought.
Literally from the horse’s mouth says we met with him at the Hula Bowl, which makes perfect sense as he’s a two-time captain.
That’s a Lion.
Need a little Zion action on the roster to really get Jihaad going. Can’t wait.
I agree, except - and he was one of the primary reasons I made that “interesting tidbit about Brad” post last night - he skipped pretty much all of the testing. Only did the SS and 3-cone. That’s really unusual for a late-round prospect, they almost always do the testing. You’d say maybe he was hurt, but healthy enough to do the agility drills? Again, unusual.
That is the first I saw from Zion since we talked about him in the old draft thread. I don’t even recall seeing his name come up on the sims or I would have taken him with one of those late picks. Maybe because they always have Mickens available I didn’t have to dig.
He basically disappeared through the process, it was odd. Maybe there is an injury, but if so I can’t find any mention of it. And strange that he would test the agilities if so.
Badass, one of my sleeper tight ends. @BubbaBaker-60 go check out his blocking technique. He’s not a people mover but he’s so sound Georgia just left him in-line all year. You gotta go back to his Stanford stuff to see the receiving chops.
Oooh, check it out @Jman, according to Dave Birkett - and you think he would know - we’ve had Anthony Belton in for a 30 visit (list at bottom of article).
So what players have we had in for a visit that also did all the testing? Gonna put the over under of players we draft off the visit list at 2.5.
@Jman sounds like it’s time for a poll
I should probably separate them into top 30 - which are much more likely to be picked - and Hula Bowl/pro day etc…, which are much less likely.
But I’m lazy. No I’m not, I’m working on something else that’s waaaay too long.
A few more…
This one doesn’t mention us meeting him - that’s up above lost in the morass of posts somewhere - but it’s a good accounting of what kind of athlete he is. Peyton Buckley from Augustana.
worth mentioning that David Shaw should have some good insight into this guy having been with him at Stanford
Oooh, yeah, great shout out. Could be one of the reasons we brought him in too.
