Lions Release First 2024 Unofficial Depth Chart

LaPorta is going to beat every LB in the NFL. His stats last year indicate as such.
Monty isn’t just another RB. Dude is good. I have no issue with them beating Campbell in camp, it’s only going to make him better.

Definitely not a fan of the KR depth chart.

Why?

OR NOT.

St Brown - 1,161
Raymond - 616
Chark - 505
Reynolds - 497
Hockenson - 395
Swift - 389
Wright - 216

Those were our receiving yardage leaders in 2022, when we had the no 8 passing offense in the league. Goff passed for 4,438 yards and 29 TDs.

Now we have Jamo, LaPorta and Gibbs to squeeze between our no 1 and no 2 guy from 2022. I’m sure the WR group will be just fine.

That edge depth is concerning…

Peko ahead of BroMart ???

Did we underestimate this signing…or is it just early camp make Bromart earn it stuff

Peko is known to Terrell Williams. He just may be a sneaky good signing.

For the first half of the preseason i think you are going to see the vets play ahead of the young guys.

But i think even to start the season, if/when reader isnt good to go. I think it will be peko getting 30-40% of NT snaps. Bromart ~20% then a mix of every one else.

Bromart didnt play last year. You dont want to throw a guy that hasn’t played much in that long right to the fire.

I think peko might be better than some people realize but idk.

As for edge depth. Yea im a LITTLE worried. Comish was a great fill in. By no means a 3 down starter but definitely someone you could rely on.

It sounds like no one else has stood out aside from Davenport. Like they are good in one area but not so good in another.

I think a lot of them have great potential they just havent met that yet.

Who was throwing him the ball for those seasons?

Exactly. And has DPJ been playing with Goff or Hooker/ Sudfeld in practice.

But absolutely look at his career. With baker he was pretty good. Then he had UFL qbs.

I’m also wondering if the cap space that we currently have is being saved for a potential mid-season trade.

At WR, Diggs, Higgins, Allen, Godwin and Cooper are all in contract years where we could absorb the cap hit and probably get a deal done for a 2nd. Metcalfe, Samuel and McLaurin all 2025 free agents, so they could also be potential trade targets.

As it sits right now.

With projected 53,
As well as Moseley, Comish, Reader and Mahogony on pup/ IR. (So 57)

The lions have about $35m in space, but you have to save about $15-20m for in season injuries and practice squad.

So they have about $15-20m in real space to make a trade. Or let it roll over.

Thats pretty idealistic for nfl teams now a days

They got Houston playing on the wrong side. Which is very believable.

Goff, Watson - Last year - His worst season

Watson, Brissett - 22 - His best season

Keenun - 21 - 2nd best season

Mayfield - 20 - 3rd best season.

Goffs QB play isn’t the reason his play deminished if that’s what your trying to say.

After the trade to the Lions, no one should have expected much. His bad seasons prior to joining the Lions was more about poor QB play as opposed to poor ability.

Would have worked. The signing was savvy as hell IMO. Head injuries :face_with_head_bandage:

WR is a concern. I hate to say it but I don’t think Jamo will ever be better than a WR3. I just don’t see it. And a big part is durability. Obviously I hope I’m wrong. On the flip side Josh Reynolds was reliable, but he was nothing special. It doesn’t take much to get what he gave.

DE has been a concern for a long time.

Kicker is a concern. Kickers are extremely underrated and under valued. They give your team points. 3 points when needed. Having a good kicker is massive.

All legitimate concerns.

I think Jamo has a breakout year in '24, but I get the reticence. I’m optimistic because the talent is still there, and it seems he has his head on right. But he did miss a game with a minor ankle sprain after the Dallas debacle.

DE is my biggest concern. How much longer will Davenport’s right foot/ankle be able to hold out? Is Paschal ready to take those reps effectively? When it comes to the latter, I’ve heard reports that he makes a great tandem with Levi, that they play off each other quite well. That gives me hope, but I wanna see it.

I do wonder if Bates is a completely different kicker on grass than on turf. All the inconsistencies we’ve seen in Allen Park have been on grass, in the weather. Bates didn’t look on grass in the UFL either, but he was lights out indoors on turf. That said, given how much a kicker’s performance depends on his confidence, I worry his grass woes will carry over indoors.
