Lions select DB Keith Abney at 157

I didn’t realize he’s so young. Won’t turn 22 until next January.

This is an amazing pick. This is just an amazing pick. My kid cousin (ASU Football alumni) wanted him desperately for the commanders and was hitting me as the pick was announced. Keep in mind he is 6’9 330……imma have a few bruises for a few days. :winking_face_with_tongue:

It depends on how much weight you give some of his size and juice issues. For me, on tape, he overcame them with enough regularity that I didn’t punish him overly much. Clearly the teams disagreed. But he’s an in-your-face chirpy dawg type who fits the style of CB we like, has that my-ball attitude I reward pretty heavily (he basically becomes the WR when the ball is in the air). He may end up being a slot only type, but that’s OK. Very valuable in today’s game.

That might make some people question your board ….

Probably should have kept that to yourself

I had Ponds 10th lol. I’m OK with it. What matters is how they end up.

Well you just gotta bust a guys balls every once in a while when the opening presents itself.

Hopefully he didn’t have Shedeur #1OA last year like Dieon did

Given the lateness in the draft I sure wouldn’t mind Nuss.

Nah, @Thats2 has too many lifetime service awards here. He’s teflon.

He’s a smaller CB who is good if he can keep the receiver in front of him. I suspect we will try to use him as a NB where it will be harder to expose him.

IMO, the NFL is a copycat league and larger CBs are in vogue right now. Richard Sherman, Tariq Woolen and others have shown larger guys can compete at the CB position, and CBs are getting larger, league-wide.

I believe in the old adage that its not the size of the dog in the fight that matters, its about the fight in the dog. This pick really works for me.
