Great points. This isnāt Madden, and fit really matters. What the D-line does affects the secondary, offense and defense need to complement each other, etc.
In the salary cap era, you canāt have a āstuds and dudsā roster with a few superstars and then minimum contracts for the rest. Not if you want sustained success.
And I want the super bowl win as much as most here. But I appreciate the measured approach we have taken in the Brad Holmes era. And it is clearly working! We just had our best two-season stretch in the last what, 60 years? And we have cap room to work with! And a bunch of young talent! And a coach who players just rated an A+ among the league!
I donāt do nearly the research a lot of you awesome people do. But based on what Iāve seen here, Reed is a very good pickup. And if you have āsolidā to āplusā players in almost every position on a defense, the sum is often better than the individual parts. Because then no one has to ācoverā for the weak link next to them. If Reed is in that CD3 ballpark, Iām a happy camper!

I didnt expect this guy to be so well spoken, not sure why. Very genuine.
He narrowed it down to Washington or Detroit, but had several similar offers.

Just listened to the Reed presser. Seems like a really good guy but also appears to have that dawg in him. You can tell a Brad/Dan guy the moment you see them and Reed embodies all of that. Lopez as well, really good football guys.

Davis is a bigger liability in zone though.
I like Davis and I prefer size in the redzone and on running downs.
DJ is a physical and more aggressive player. Which I also like.
Thereās things DJ is better at than Davis and vice versa but overall theyāre pretty close players. I think DJ is more consistent though.
You canāt argue that heās not an above average starter at CB. Iāll take that all day and twice on Sunday.

In hoping DJ is a an upgrade a lot like that Monty was.
