We basically gave him the same money AQM got. The difference is DJ is able to be on the field for 1st and 2nd down and 3rd and short.

AQM was only useful in clear passing situations.

At WORST we gave him the same money based on the report. But ā€œup toā€ means a lot in these conversations, it really could be a 1 yr 4M with 2M of unlikely to be earned incentives etc. At least how i read it

Solid depth move as the #3/4 DE. As other have mentioned, he is a Paschal replacement.

We still need a bookend opposite Hutch. Feels like we need a solid starting DE and OT in the first two rounds.

Heā€™s a low end #2 or a high end #3. Much more productive than Paschal ever was.

Itā€™s probably him and a rookie as 2/3. Still need another one added. That or double dip in the draft which is a possibility.

If he can turn back the clock to his Minnesota days heā€™ll be a great find for us. But I donā€™t know if the injury has permanently sapped him of the juice. Panthers fans say he flashed like his old self last year, but not consistently. Iā€™m glad we brought him in first, no doubt we put him through the ringer of medical tests.

DJ was a starter for the Panthers. I believe he COULD be depth. But he very well could be a starter.

Wonnum is also better against the run and over two years younger. I liked AQM but I think this might be an upgrade and a better fit for the Lions defense. Still need a lot more on the D-Line but this is a solid start.
