Lions sign T Larry Borom

Almost no team does this.

I think there is the potential that we wait until round 2 or 3 and snag Gennings Dunker for RT competition as well. Could do worse than Borom and Dunker battling for RT. Eventually Dunker becomes our mainstay RT but frees us up to go Edge or CB in round 1.

idk, this move to me screams Penei to LT and if they get a guy they like in the draft for RT, cool. If not, I could see them letting Frazier and Borom fight it out

If no other tackle is added, they just did. Because moving Penei to the left and starting Borom is not improving on last years line much at all imo.

They could 100% do this, but I think it would more a product of someone they loved at another position falling within reach. A Styles or Downs or Bain type.

I actually think Downs has a shot to drop to 17. I didn’t think that a few weeks ago.

Precisely. And we’d be dumb as hell to pass on him. Especially because then the Vikings would take him at 18.

I’m so not comfortable with our tackle position. I don’t care who drops I need a tackle. If our starter wasn’t Jared I would be open to it. But it’s so vital that I can’t look past it and roll with what we have.

Agree to disagree, Sewell at LT is a big upgrade from the Decker play of LY. May over GG is another big upgrade, throw in the growth of our young guards and a decent RT in 26 is a large scale upgrade over the play of 2025.

I would prefer one, but what if, say the next TJ Watt dropped? (He was the 30th pick his draft) Are you really passing on that? Personally I’ll take that sort of talent all day and figure out a plan B elsewhere.

My initial gut looking at Borom is that they’d be comfortable with him holding down RT for a year. In no world do I think he keeps you from taking a RT if Brad’s RT is sitting there, but I do think it’s enough to keep them from taking a RT 1st round just because there’s a ā€œholeā€

Silly hypothetical haha

Not all youngsters progress and get better. In fact, it’s probably more likely than not to say one of Mahogany or Rat won’t get better. Can’t put all your faith in projection.

The point being if you evaluate a guy and think he’s the next TJ Watt, you trust your evaluation and take that guy. It doesn’t have to be Watt, multiple superstars come from pick 17 on.

I’m fairly confident this draft isn’t going to have a ā€œfallerā€ to pick 17 other than downs. This isn’t a great draft at the top.

Completely agree

The Lions had to fill in so sod these holes or at least partially fill them so they can go into the draft unburdened with a must have position draft wise.

I still think they need to go defense hard core

Agree.

I look at Mays, Scruggs, Borom as fringe guys .

Has any of them ever started a full season ?

These are Bradford moves

I’d start those Blake Miller photoshops.

I get it, but like, Jared Verse went 19th two years ago in an OK overall class. He’s a stud, I’d take him in a heartbeat now. So if we think, oh, I don’t know, Faulk is the next Jared Verse, we should 100% draft him regardless of need. Now I don’t think that of Faulk (of course I wasn’t a huge Verse fan either), but my point is you can’t pass on elite talent for need. You just can’t do it. We can create another solution at RT, but you get another chance at that superstar.

Like I said, if any of Downs, Styles or Bain falls to us, I’m taking them over any tackle because I think they will be superstars. Well, unless Mauigoa falls too, then it would be a decision.
