I’m just FINE with Zach Ertz chasing a ring!!! I want all Lions to win a ring!!!
There are literally over a thousand players that wish they were Zach Ertz today, playing with a 1 in 4 shot at a Super Bowl ring.
Others asking if the guy can block as well. I don’t know the answer. But if he can even pretend to block, then we don’t have to report Decker or Skipper as eligible, go two TEs and have ZE just go out and catch a winning TD pass without any controversy
Hey Zac, this is Brad Holmes. How would you like to be a Lion?
He needs to give us something for 2 games. You will see a very motivated Ertz.
My question is why Firkser instead of signing him once Mitchell went on IR? Of course why not Suh as opposed to Alualu… but I digress.
Did Ertz want to sign with us then? Maybe we had to prove we were a legit SB contender first.
Well I’m glad we are finally worthy of his services then.

Dude has been healing for the last month. And actively wanted a release from AZ…
This could be a blessing in disguise to have this guy come in, ready to block and be there when they blanket Sam in defense
That was just a guess. It’s probably more likely that we felt okay about the room until Brock’s injury.
Speaking of “more likely”, there’s something of a common denominator for these 4 teams still standing. Likely, Kittle, Kelce and LaPorta. All 4 teams have outstanding play from the TE position. Likely was a dog at Coastal Carolina but really didn’t see much action until Mark Andrews went down. And the Ravens also have Charlie Kolar who was a stud and favorite receiver at Iowa State for Purdy. The others are all major reasons for their teams success this season. I think it’s one of the most undervalued positions in football, along with RB. If you hit on TE and RB you’ll tie up very little dough vs production.
Last year’s draft saw 15 TE’s drafted, in a normal year I believe it’s closer to 11. Decent draft class for TE’s this year as well. I think TE #2 is more important than WR #4. Not sure we try and keep a vet like Ertz past this playoff run, so I would absolutely be looking to upgrade in this seasons draft. You guys who think Wright is a good or decent blocker are wrong but he did improve on his receiving chances. I’m looking at late round players, and even UDFA’s because there are a couple guys who may not get taken that I would like to see come in and compete.
Andrews might be back this weekend too
I think I saw where he’s been ruled out.
In this article, they state we almost signed this guy when Sam was initially hurt…?!
Meaning there has been dialogue here!
Hoping this guy was told to get ready and be on stand by! Back then
Notwithstanding the handwringing about his run blocking, whatever he provides is likely to be more than Firsker or anyone else they could pick up at this point in the season.
I think it cool to known we were working behind the scene with this guy beforehand….
That this signing wasn’t a reactionary thing; it was actually proactive as it was already in place due to Sam’s injury
You would assume that and I would too, but you can only believe it if you believe that it was Ertz dragging his feet leading up to the Wildcard game. They preferred an injured LaPorta that possibly wouldn’t be able to play against the Rams, Wright coming off a long term injury and Firsker because that is what we went with. That tells me they really like and have high confidence in Firsker, and it would not be shocking at all for him to get the #2 snaps in SF.
