Lions trade David Montgomery to the Texans

Some things aren’t obvious for certain people in this matrix.

I have to keep reminding myself that 1/6th of the population have an IQ below 85…

I love it. Respect the message and very heartfelt words. I understand his perspective for wanting out now. I believe he will regret it in the end, but that’s what he felt was best for him at the time.

Apologizes Monty for calling you a little bitch. Because of how well you were treated here I was sour the way it ended. But after all the dust settles, you were great here and I appreciate it! :oncoming_fist:t2:

You’d think that would actually keep you humble. But do please keep reminding yourself.

Monty’s cap hit was $8m and that’s the only number that matters in this conversation. That’s why Holmes was happy to accomodate DMo.

Cap hit next year of $9m. That’s $17m over two years, genius. It was clearly time to move on from him and draft a kid.

Correlation is not causation. DMo had his little tantrums, but you said this has ZERO to do with money. Not by a long shot. Willing to be DMo was near the top of the cap discussions.

Classy. And somehow I like him even more now.

they also added a player that they felt made GG expendable, saving another 5.5m…

7.5m in cap space while adding a depth player and a valuable 4th round pick…Not bad

I loved Monty while he was here but get the business side of it. At this time I just can’t say if it’s good or bad before FA and the draft. I’m a Brad Holmes fan, best GM we had in my lifetime but he needs to knock this off-season out of the park. The last 2 haven’t given us very good results.

Save money

Do right by DMONT

Get a young talent at position of need

Save more money by cutting GG

Bean

And next year bean

I should be humble bc 12.5% of the population are retards? Psh, nope, just reminds me I shouldn’t argue with idiots

They got great value for Monty, I like the trade if it had to happen… Would’ve rather kept the player, but not if he’s going to be upset with his role

I hear you. I would’ve rather kept Monty even if he was a bit disgruntled…he fits like a glove.

But they went player for player (with the mini series of moves), filling a depth need and saved 7.5m in the process. It’s pretty genius imo

Jesus you’re dense… So the dead cap number has zero to do with it? Just doesn’t exist? You’re a special kinda special :joy: :joy: :joy:

Keep digging bud.

Both Sportrac and Overthecap have zero dead money in 2026.

Bro… You’re embarrassing yourself… Why do you think there’s zero dead money? Bc they Lions PAID IT  :joy:  :joy:

Detroit will incur $4.8 million in dead cap and $3.5 million in cap savings for the 2026 season.

3.5 million minus over 1.5 million for Juice and they saved less than 2 million… Math is hard :joy: :joy: :joy:

Huh?

He carries zero dead cap for Houston because Houston didn’t pay his signing bonus. This is how it works for all trades. The team that paid the bonuses incurs a dead money hit when the player leaves the team and the new team could essentially cut whoever they traded for for nothing but pure cap savings without incurring dead money because the bonus money has been paid out by another team.

I just understand how the NFL salary cap works. I went to Deadstroke’s classes

Most of us do… Then again, most of us wouldn’t make an argument that it’s “all about the money” without even understanding the basics of the salary cap and how trades work :man_shrugging:

Nailed it.

Well I am from Erie, Pa Both James Conner and Juice Scruggs are also from Erie. Each of them have really overcome tragedy. Conner had to battle cancer and Scruggs fought back from a bad car accident. have mad respect for both of these guys but I hope neither are playing any significant role for the Lions in the future. On a side note Erie is also home of former Colts great Bob Sanders.
