Lions were the league's best team. And they'll win the Super Bowl next year

If you take injuries off the table the best teams I watched last season in order

Lions
Bills
Ravens
Eagles
KC

I still think Bills should have won it all and I just have to chalk it up to KC home advantage.

The Lions offense was the best in the league and the defense was top 10 or better when healthy.

You gotta get lucky with health to win it

This is going to piss some people off which is unfortunate but if there is one thing that fixes this undercurrent of doubt and flips it back to “oh, yeah. We’re the hunted for a reason”…

It’s Jamo taking that leap. And I think he’s going to.

Dude is close and ball in hand in stride and in space he might be one of the best angle erasers I’ve ever seen. Mt. Rushmore for me. Close to it at least.

I agree with this statement, I know Phili did it but their front four was outstanding, we don’t have that. Also I think Glenn and Jonson were better coordinators than the ones lost by Phili. Finally, I don’t think MCDC, is the coach everyone on here thinks he is, my prediction is MCDC will fall flat on his face in 2025, you heard it here first.

I’ll need to see the new OC and DC before i make any such proclamations.

I am not even remotely excited about either tbh.

The good news is that it’s mostly about the players, and the lions have plenty of good ones + one of, if not the best head coach in the nfl.

But yeah, I’d be lying if i said i didn’t think that the OC and DC aren’t both huge downgrades.

Defensive coordinator is an area where I really thought we had an opportunity to improve. And instead we went with more inexperience. It was really disappointing how a team that fancies itself a contender didn’t go out and get some proven coaches.

I think Jamo and Gibbs have another gear. I also think LaPorta was banged up all last year, he might be better too. Which for defenses has gotta be bad news if those 3 have more in the tank.

Year 3 or year 4 is usually peak years for most skill positions.

Also scary Sewell has another level yet! Best RT in the nfl is still only 24 years old.

At this point the Lions are one of those teams that will be in the mix for the Super Bowl for the next 3-4 years.

I thought if they won it this year they could get 3 of 5 or something. But it is looking more like grinding out 1 in the next 4 years.

The NFL is brutal

“we’ll do it next year.” lemme tell you something, I have been a part of THE DEN for twenty years…I have heard the same tired comment each and every year “oh we’ll reach a bowl next year.” followed closely by " 20 and 0 until proven otherwise." it’s like having a parrot that only knows how to say “bawk*” “we’ll do it next year.” “bwap.”

What wrong with me? I’m the opposite of pissed off when I read that. I gotta take me some nasty pills.

Maybe it’s not the case here as much as Twitter but a lot of Lions fans still seem to have sticks up their butts regarding Jamo.

Players win games and great coaches put players in positions to win games.

The Lions have the Super Bowl formula:
Great OL and DL, pro bowlers at every level of the team, great role players and developing talent.

On the DL the Lions have a legit star in Hitch but Alim is damn good too. At LBer Slex Anzalone is a stud. We lost all three of those guys. Joseph AND Branch are Pro Bowl level guys. Carlton Davis was playing borderline Pro Bowl level ball too.

On O we have a Pro Bowl center in Ragnow and Sewell. Legit to guys. Then Gibbs, LaPorta and Amin Ra. Goff is in the Pro Bowl level conversation too.

Past all that talent our role players are studs:
David Montgomery, JaMo, Decker on O are solid. On D…Paschal, Rodrigo, Barnes, Commish when healthy, Reader, etc.

Young talent includes Jack Campbell, Wingo, Mahogany, Rakestraw, Vaki and others.

That is a solid roster. Solid answers everywhere.

Hell yes I expect to compete for a Super Bowl next season! We clearly have the talent AND the coaches to get it done.
