“slices beautifully”…but make dog-legs to the leg very problematic.
I know. I spent a long time trying to unlearn a youth full of playing baseball to eliminate my outside->in golf swing. ![]()
Yea baseball/softball and golf just don’t work.
it was the saudis who attacked us on 9/11/01 not Iraq
I am going to take this into two different directions.
- People who are naturally good with a “baseball swing" are immediately told that their swing doesn’t work in golf. Hogwash. Baseball requires a level of hand-eye coordination and timing that golf does not. Anybody who is a decent striker of a moving baseball can play a decent round of golf. The BIGGEST problem is the positioning of the hands with the GRIP of the club and not having an understanding of how that leads to a chain of events that causes a slice. One of the things I HATE about golf is that people do not start with the simple “fix" for a baseball swing. They immediately send baseball players down a rabbit hole of mechanics that they never recover from…so they give up the game.
- That leads to the second place I was going with this response. I like LIV golf because it opposes some of the “sacred" things about PGA golf. The PGA game is out-dated, on purpose. That also influences the things that regular weekend golfers experience. It even influences the equipment we buy and what we are told to do with our swings. Becoming a scratch golfer for most people is not about learning a textbook perfect swing or picture perfect shots. A textbook swing doesn’t even work for most people…everybody has to find their own swing mechanics that work for their body type, hand-eye coordination, tendencies and flexibility. Becoming a scratch golfer is mainly about seeing thru the BS that PGA/USGA is feeding us. Golf “lessons" are big business in the game, and so much of what we are told is built for us to fail…and need more lessons and updated equipment.
I really enjoy playing golf with buddies. I absolutely hate that the PGA/USGA has made normal people who could be decent at golf feel like they suck. It means there are people that I would LOVE to play a round of golf with, gave up the game long ago.
I love watching this guy on YT. This is a recent quick hitter video where he is reiterating a point he has made in the past. He has tons of in depth videos where he is explaining in frame by frame detail what makes a particular players golf swing work/not work.
I thought of her during the recent discussions of Cracker Barrel’s marketing disaster.
Cracker Barrel may have pulled up just in the nick of time…
