I highly recommend watching the Netflix documentary “The Toys that Made Us”. The one on the Masters of the Universe toys was great.

The He-Man toys were set to launch with comic books as the major promotional tool to help generate demand. Remember the little comics that came with them? That’s the origin of those.

When a major buyer pressed a Mattel sales exec about a competitive toy that had a cartoon associated with it, the Mattel guy basically said, “Oh yeah, we’re doing that for these toys, too”. Mattel then had to hurry up and coordinate with an independent animation house to make it happen.

As a kid, I always wondered why the comics and toys sometimes didn’t look like the “real” things (with what I saw on the cartoon being the that in my mind). I found that to be a fascinating explanation. It’s interesting to see how the sausage was made.

I expected someone to be busting Wolf’s balls about the thread, but this is the absolute best and most clever way it could have been done. I’m glad I wasn’t drinking anything, because I did a total spit take when I saw it.

Well done, sir. You win the internet for today.

Since we’re talking movies here. The Sheep Detectives was IMO quite good.

Saw Backrooms last week… It was weird… Not bad, not sure if it was good, I was perplexed most of the time, but interested. And of course there was no resolution at the end lol

well if you never watched the cartoons on Saturday’s/back in the day, it would be awkward if not hard to follow.

He is talking about a Horror movie based off of YouTube shorts based off of 4chan posts nothing He Man related.

I can say with 100% certainty that loving GI Joe and He-Man are not mutually exclusive.

Now you know.
