I used to spend on season tickets….
Camp at 9600 ft elevation
Hunting at 9800 to 9900 ft
I live at 750 ft…My old ass was sucking wind in the thin air but I got it done with a 6x5 Bull bugled in to 30 yards

Magnificent!
And… you lived to talk about it!
I once walked 100’ from my car at about 13k+. Got tired and had to return, taking in the rest of the scenery from the comfort of the driver’s seat.
Fantastic buddy!! I just got home from my elk hunt. Haven’t killed one yet so may go back.
Hope you had a blast!!!
The meat is fantastic
Elk meat is unbelievable. I thought Bison was good until I had Elk. No gaminess and sweet.
Meanwhile the elevation at my office as I type this is 10’.
Awesome stuff!
Mount Fuji sucked wind but it was doable…. Over many many pit stops!!
Curious about the dead trees… what are they attributing that to?
Fire several years ago
The green trees are the regrowth
Yeah I would be on oxygen boost if I went down to your place LOL
First time hearing elk bugle in the wild…it was incredible and something I will never forget. I got an elk 24 years ago when I was a lean mean mountain hunting machine on a DIY backpack hunt in Colorado. Hauling his ass out in six 3 mile trips to the truck made me know that I wanted horses the next time LOL
You can see what the last 24 years of being a Lions fan has done to me
Very nice… and that you avoided a coronary episode is an added bonus lol… but I guess season tickets to the Lions over the years has given your heart plenty of strength!
True Story!
Sweet pics! Thanks for sharing old timer
I live in Colorado. That looks like Pine Beetle kill. Really bad in some areas.
That’s what I was wondering. We’re losing pines around here and I’m not sure what the cause is, other than assuming it’s some insect. Was wondering if they were seeing something similar.
This is Grand Lake before and after beetle kill. It’s on the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park.
Outstanding brother! Second best eating wild game in my book (after moose). Spent many early fall days chasing wapiti around the Colorado mountains. My favorite spot in all of Colorado is a wallow on a bench at 9800 ft. I’ve been lucky enough to have taken seven bulls over about 25 years of hunting out there. Thanks for sharing and jogging my mind of the many happy memories.
How did this not come up when we went to game together??
I called back and forth with a bull before shooting him last year!
Awesome! Nice work!
My work buddy who liked to drink alot was shipped off to a project in a dry county in Texas. While he was there he bought some new golf clubs, then a new truck, then a motorcycle! He used to say he just used the money he was saving on alcohol.
