Michigan Basketball Recruiting

Not sure why you are going after me on this. The post I replied to implied that UM’s scandals were less egregious thatn State’s or State’s. Yes, I know the OP specified ‘recent’ but that seems to deliberately omit the Anderson abuse.

MSU’s MOST recent scandal is not Nasser but Tuck. However if we are to be honest and look at the entire spectrum of things, UM can not claim any virtue here considering their lack of responsiveness to reporting around Anderson.

I went to UM. I root for UM. I think the Stalions thing is a clown car vendetta pushed by an NCAA clinging to relevancy, a conference commissioner with no perspective, and rival schools trying to cope.

That has nothing to do with the various sex abuse scandals at each of the schools. They all were criminally negligent.

With all due respect, my response to Marty was in regards to him trying to shame Michigan…and clearly I was pointing out that MSU isn’t shame free.

He is referencing the opposing fans thinking the sign stealing scandal is worse than the Nassar and sandusky.

I think you missed what he was saying.

ANd I haven’t, nor will I, defend, any school including UM, for these sexual scandals.
Now the responses by the universities to those scandals are very different.

@HiFidelity ……THIS, what @frm710 said….i wasn’t talking about what you said in your response at all. I’m talking about rival fans of Michigan that thinks the Conner Stalions scandal is worse than what Sandusky or Nassar did. It’s ridiculous for any fan base to think that sexual abuse of innocent people is not as bad as stealing signs r in-person scouting… :man_facepalming:

That isn’t the consensus of anyone. I’m decently connected and I haven’t seen anyone write something like this. Googled both questions and the most I can come up with is some clown on 11 Worriers claiming it is worse than Astros or Patriots cheating.

If some rando at the bar was yelling into his cups about this then okay.

You are so missing the point but anyways…
Carry on your wayward way…

Dude….go to the OSU board on 247……you will see it. I have seen it on Facebook where fans of OSU and MSU have said that. Notre Dame fans have said it. This has ZERO to do with having inside connections to any of the institutions. This is social media, the worst platform ever created because you will get ignorant and troll-like statements of such. I will surely screen-shot the very next time it is said…. :100:

Actually Marty is not wrong on this one. KWIII was rated lower when he transferred to MSU from Wake and from HS to Wake.

The articles you are referring to are retrospectively looking at which transfers were the most impactful. For example this one from CBS quoted ranked 79 that year.

Obviously looking back he is probably one of the top transfer stories of CFB.

College programs don’t go off of articles/ranking though, they go off of the film. Why do you think MSU was illegally recruiting him all season at Wake? They knew how good his film was right away, didn’t happen by accident

It is weird that you are calling out MSU for allegedly cheating when Umich is literally under investigation right now for actual cheating in which they were caught.

Hey I am not trying to be incendiary. I am pretty sure all of these universities commit violations. I am disenchanted with all college sports.

The Nassar, Paterno, Anderson, etc coverups just make it all stink. Can’t support that. I would have been fine if all 3 teams got a multi year suspension for coverups.

10-4 so cheating is okay if you don’t get caught, in your book :ok_hand:

FYI just so you realize, I’m okay with cheating the way that both programs did, I’m annoyed with MSU fans thinking that what Michigan did was so outrageous.

Yet if you really think about it, Stallions had a lesser impact on games. When they outright cheated to get Kenneth Walker and he had a far greater impact on the outcome of games than Stallions ever did

Conversely if you do get caught, does that absolve you from guilt? Should you not be penalized then?

I don’t think a damn thing would have (or probably should have) happened to Umich had they just admitted to the cheating. It’s just the cock show that made both Umich and the NCAA escalate. Now it’s stupid.

I always found this argument to be odd. When you make a comment like nothing probably should have happened had they just admitted to cheating, you’re essentially saying you agree that the act is being overblown. You just think they should be punished for publicly agreeing with you that the act is overblown. Basically accept us making a big deal out of what we agree is overblown, or we will punish you severely for pushing back. You see why Michigan fans see a vendetta there right?
