Its definitely about performance. This never see’s the light of day if UM was competing for a National Championship. Moore was a bad hire that made no sense.
Urban Meyer suddenly had issues with pretty ladies in bars…when he was 2-11 and the Jags wanted to pull the plug.
The timing of this one isn’t the worst, but the uniqueness of the number of quality vacancies isn’t the greatest. A lot of top coaches have already moved on, but guys like Kiffin never would have been considered anyway. Campbell probably would have been.
I would think Jedd Fisch would be on their list. I’m probably in an extreme minority on this one, but I would have been interested in Jason Candle. I definitely would give Jesse Minter a call.
I think it was mostly bad QB play. How much you can attribute that to coach Moore is debatable. His recruiting was much better than Harbaugh. How much that was NIL and how much hard work and forming bonds with recruits also debatable. But he was at least a season away from the hot seat which was totally dependent on Underwood’s improvement. There wasn’t much in year 1.
Harbaugh was never going to embrace NIL in the way Moore did. It just wasn’t how he viewed the game.
I don’t think Moore’s firing had anything to do with on field performance. That’s just not how Warde thinks. He had a 9 win season for a pretty cheap price for a college coach of a big money drawing program.

Hey Michigan: can we like not settle for a guy this time like we did with Sherrone Moore.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Jesse Minter take the job, but my guess is he’s thinking an NFL head coaching job in a year of two.
I imagine that the NIL spending would make it an even more attractive job than it would have traditionally been.
Minter is an X and Os guy which Sherrone was not. But who can recruit like that guy. The kids really loved him and connected with him.
