Myles Garrett Requests Trade

I would laugh if I were the Browns. 3 1sts is where I start.

I’d be really surprised if he doesn’t have some control. In fact he can just refuse to re-sign with the new team, which will kill his value for Cleveland. So even without a no-trade clause he’ll have quite a bit of control.

God bless Maxx Crosby but this is the move

Might not be where you end, though. It’s a battle of leverage now, and the limited number of teams already tilts it away from the Browns. If Garrett can exert any measure of control, it tilts even further.

Already a working relationship with the front officr too

At least Dorsey, yeah. Anyone else?

My bad I’m saying Brad and the Cleveland GM just made a deal

Now I’m hoping that this takes the focus off of M Crosby!

I’d be ecstatic with either one of them!!!

Crosby’s a great player, but he’s just not on the same planet as Garrett. This guy’s one of the greatest edge players of all time.

I’d love Garrett, just don’t know what his price would be. I personally don’t even think he is worth 2 1st rounders, unless you are talking the bottom 8 picks in the 1st round.

He is turning 30 years old this season, and is 100% going to require a brand new deal. While I don’t think he gets Nick Bosa money, because of his age, you are still looking at 28-30mil AAV. I have a hard time believing Brad paying 30mil AAV and two first round picks+ for an edge who will be 30.

I lean this way too, but Garrett is different enough that I’d consider it. And elite edge players can be great well into their 30s, especially when strength is a big part of their game.

I think it’s because of a comment Brad made about valuing depth over spending heavily on a position group. Watching the defense get decimated by injuries sort of justified that take.

If we have another season where we lose 1/3 of our defense, we have bigger problems than depth.

From former PFF stat guy and current player agent:

Definitely not gonna be cheap.

After watching this team struggle my entire life, I’d hate to see a good thing flame out by chasing a dream. I think your odds of winning a Super Bowl are greater when you consistently field a good team over seasons.

I know it sounds nice on paper but I prefer for the Lions to stay the course rather than spend major assets on a player that they’re going to have a very hard time fitting into their cap structure after next season. If you’re willing to lose a few core players over this on top of all the high draft picks then this trade is for you but I’m not one of those guys.

The Lions biggest enemy was health this season, not lacking a franchise pass rusher alongside their already franchise pass rusher.
Of course, I wouldn’t be upset if they made a Garrett trade but it’s not what I’d do.

I can see Minnesota go after him. They will let Sam Darnold go, and JJ is under a rookie contract. So they will have cash to spend. I dont see BH trading a 1st round pick for anyone. He is building through the draft

Brad Holmes has the opportunity right now to make this team an overwhelming favourite in the NFC, and puts them squarely back in the mix for the Super Bowl

No argument on that all!
