Myles Garrett trade request: Walking through any Lions potential

The only way we get Garret would be if he gave a list of say, four or fewer teams to management, we are on that list, and management decides to do him a solid. Brad won’t pay unless the price is a bargain. And I’m OK with that.

I just hope the Ravens or Eagles don’t get him. My best guess is the Bills. I would not count out the Rams.

Rams might have the capital, but their front four is already very much legit, with Jared Vearse honestly looking like a potential All-pro in the near future, and the rest of the Dline is really good.

They have the cap space and capital to do it, but its one of the few areas where they dont need an edge rusher.

Rams need run stuffers. Their run defense was definitely an issue but their pass rush went crazy in the playoffs. Would be just like the Rams to get him though. But if he’s really chasing a SB he probably wants to go to KC lol.

I think the favs to land him are Bills and Washington rn

Bills though need to make it work but its doable

Washington outright can afford him during with 4 years left of Daniels Rookie Contract.

I wonder if Denver might be a sneaking landing place for him. They made the playoffs with a rookie QB

Bills paid a lot for Von Miller so they definitely see the need in having a big time pass rusher. If I’m the Browns I send him to the NFC.

Need to double check their cap situation, but with how good that defense is without him

Im not sure

they just need to load up on weapons right now, and add another piece to that LBer core.

Washington is easily the cleanest fit. They can afford him, their GM seems like he’s willing to make big moves, they have a crying need at edge, and they’re good.

The only hangup I can see is Garrett not believing they’re a real Super Bowl contender. That roster is pretty devoid of talent outside the DL and QB, especially compared to the other contenders. Yes, they have a superstar QB, but so do the Ravens, Bills, Chiefs, etc… and they have much better rosters to go along with it.

I also think there is reason to doubt that Peters is yet at an all chips in posture in his roster build out. IMO it would be a mistake. And he’s so very highly regarded that I think he’ll have the awareness to understand this.

Buffalo, although cash strapped a bit, is very likely to be open to such a move.

Yeah I’m making an educated guess based on where Peters came from and the willingness to go for Lattimore, but this is another level of pushing your chips in from that. So that could definitely be. I don’t think he’ll go for the splash just to go for the splash like the old Snyder regime would have. But I also think Garrett helps fix A LOT of their defensive problems, he’s a glove fit. There’s a reason they’re currently the odds on favorites.

But I also agree that Buffalo will be all for it. As you say though, they’ve got some more problematic hurdles to overcome. And Cleveland may not want him to stay in the AFC if there’s a similar offer from the NFC, though Berry being a analytics guy probably tempers that.

Washington will undoubtedly win a similar offer. The 2026 picks are likely to be higher, they’re not in the division.

But Cleveland writers swear it’s 2 picks plus or Berry isn’t going to even listen. Will Adam go there? :man_shrugging:. I can definitely see Bean doing so.

Yes but we all know you start off demanding the ceiling offer then come down, we’ll see where they end up.

That said it is gonna be very difficult for them to move him, they’ve really painted themselves into a corner. He may end up going to the team who helps them the most, takes on some salary elsewhere, etc… Like the Osweiler trade a few years back.

Maybe. If the options are get 4/140m from Cleveland or sit for nothing I’m pretty sure I know what Myles would choose. Now I doubt that Cleveland takes that posture long term but if they’re getting lowballed I can definitely see them hunkering down in that posture until offers come around.

Imagine Jim Shorts right now… So you trade away ZaDaruis and now the best defender in the nfl might leave. Jimmy gotta be back on the Jahvid Best highlights again trying to enjoy his offseason. Lol

Right, I don’t see him re-signing with them at all. They’re just too far away. But it won’t be an easy trade. Prepare for a long, drawn-out process.

For the record, I don’t think there is any realistic chance the Lions are in the picture for Garret. Main reasons are that Holmes has not demonstrated any tendency for an all-in move, especially one that would sacrifice coveted draft picks. Add to that, we are going to struggle just to sign our own folks (Branch, Kirby, Jamo) and we lose the draft capital to replace them.

Thinking outside the box - if we think we would lose some key players, why not make them part of the trade in order to keep the draft capital. The thought of Branch in a Browns uniform makes me want to vomit :face_vomiting:, but the holy terror of Hutch and Garret lining up at the ends makes me .

He is NOT coming to Detroit. BH will bring back Davenport and we need to hope he drafts a future de.

Lol ok Marty

One other layer from my vantage.

With two new coordinators are their certain pieces that they feel like they need for their incoming approaches that Ben and AG did not. If so I think it behooves us to meet those requests. Our ability to do so could be compromised by a massive MG trade. :man_shrugging:
