Instead of throwing to Jamo twenty times, can we see what Isacc Teslaa can do-please?
Especially in the red zone. Needs at least a few targets to keep defenses honest.
Love this idea! More than 1 target a game please.
give the man 10 receiving attempts vs The Bills .
I’ve heard he’s not getting open and struggles to get any separation, so Goff doesn’t throw to him. This is what he also struggled with in training camp.
I don’t study film just scuttlebutt I’ve seen and heard.
have high hopes Teslaa can turn it around.
If TesLaa can’t get open, it’s a wrap for him.
It would at least partly explain his underwhelming production in college
I’m sure that’s true. Everyone thinks Goff is the goat, yet they don’t think he’s smart enough to throw to open receivers? Teslaa is likely the WR version of Joseph Fauria.
IMO, this is a big difference between JG and Stafford. Matt threw his fair share of picks, but when he thought his receiver would win the tight coverage battle, he threw it his way. JG plays a safer style.
I like them both, Matt had the fastball that gives DB’s fits trying to catch.
Yeah, to go along with that it’s been said Goff doesn’t like throwing 50/50 balls, à la Stafford to Calvin Johnson, also plays into it.
Not worried about TeSlaa yet. Calling TD for him on Thursday. ![]()
so…my thought was we drafted him for the high point passes, which it seems he’s pretty good at.
is it a him problem or a coach problem?
you don’t trade away what..2-3 draft picks to move up for a guy you don’t have certain plans for, imo.
It’s fine doing that on fade routes in the end zone. But no one’s purposely throwing into coverage while trying to advance down the field. And Calvin Johnson had clear height advantages to create space if needed. This is on Teslaa, not Goff. Get open if you want to make it as an NFL receiver.
so if Teslaa bombs, that means we need a quality WR, a shut down CB, and a solid RB 2.
It’s a GM problem.
good question.
TeSlaa and Fauria have nearly identical stats to this point
I totally disagree with forcing TeSlaa the ball. We already learned these lessons from the Mike Williams days. Goff is a good QB. If you are open, Goff will get you the ball. If you are not where you are supposed to be or there is no throwing lane, you are not getting the ball.
TeSlaa is clearly in some kind of a slump, and I am sure the Lions are trying to let him work through it, however, it won’t be long before they start letting someone else get some of his snaps. He can’t just be out there to be a blocking WR with zero pass catching productivity.
Look at Jamo last game. Struggled, dropped easy layup passes, and Goff still kept giving him chances at a CRITICAL time in the game. If Goff stops looking your way, it’s a you problem.
Goff does what he is told to do, He doesn’t make the calls on Offense.
