NFL Combine Day 3: Quarterbacks / Wide Receivers / Running Backs

Yes but with some serious drawbacks. He’s like National Treasure: Book of Secrets incarnate.

also, Tre Harris

Man it kills me that the guys with lateral questions won’t do the agility testing. Like that’s all great for Tre Harris, but show me how he moves laterally! How do we get the 3-cone to be the most popular event? They don’t even televise the damn thing.

On the flip side, really excellent day for Andrew Armstrong

And Noel from Iowa ST.

Im not surprised Higgins didnt do the Agility drills, his 10 yard and 40 was (the very rare time) he needed to show up to produce and he did, still wished for those Agility drills.

IDK what to think about Tez Johnson, such a weird WR case rn.

It’s actually not far off from Tank Dell’s (4.49 40). The only number I’m really gonna worry about is the 154 he weighed, otherwise my grade for him’s not changing much (pretty squarely in the 4th round).

Yeah Noel killed it. Combine was built for guys like him. Armstrong is a guy who could have bombed some of the drills with his build, but did great-above average in all of them. That ten-yard split at his size goes some way in explaining why he’s always succeeding against SEC CBs.

Hinestly

So many good WR 2s in this draft, and a decent amount with #1 potential

Maybe im being blinded a bit, but this feels like a lowkey good WR class, just really lacks true number 1s

also ill be honest

i think in most world, i would take Noel over Higgins tbh like 9 times out of 10, but given our glaring hole at X, Higgins and Horton i prefer over Noel, but I think Noel can be an absolute stud in the NFL.

I have Noel graded slightly higher than Higgins, but they are very close. And yeah for us specifically, Higgins is the guy to look at. There’s just too much overlap between Noel and ARSB.

I think the depth in this class is just fine. The real problem is it’s being compared to last year’s, which is was a borderline all-timer. Honestly I think Tet falls into that Legette/Worthy/Ladd range, guy could have been a 2nd rounder last year! Just an abnormally good class at the top. But it actually thinned out pretty quickly. After Mitchell.

Top of the class was amazing, but depth was questionable

this is the opposite, not much in the top of this draft, but the depth of this class feels much stronger.

I’m pretty stoked for today’s coverage, I always find the drills most telling for the OL. You can really see how they move. No you don’t get to see them against power, but that’s not as hard to see on the tape as other aspects of evaluating.

Man Jaylin Noel meant business. Have to love the professionalism.

Again

Would love Noel to be here, but one of the rare cases where we need a specifc position

Though knowing Brad, if he thinks hes the best WR on the board, he will take him

You think Noel could be a fit with us?

We talk about that pretty in depth above, but short answer is yes, he’s a glove fit personality and professional wise, but not physically. Too much overlap with ARSB in the end, and we I doubt we’ll spend the capital it will take to bring in what would basically be our Kalif replacement.

I think he would be a fantastic fit for the Lions. He is on my draft crush list.

He didn’t run nearly as well as I expected him too, and he’s got that wonky profile, but he’s certainly a weapon it would be fun to see us use.

Speaking of crushes, have you added him here yet?

He ran just fine for a guy his size. His top speed was elite, and if you watch his tape, he has some quickness. He did almost everything in that offense and the Lions would use him well I think.
