Apparently makai lemons combine interviews were uhh not great apparently
Weâll see. That sort of length is just the sort of thing that makes guys drop.
Oh? Details?
A note on the combine from the DetNews:
The Times They Are A-Changinâ
The number of players at the NFL combine who opt out of physical testing continues to hit new highs. One player who demonstrated the new wave more than anyone was Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy, who didnât work out despite being a player who couldâve massively benefited after missing all of last season with an injury. Only one running back even did the three-cone drill.
These players are getting outside advice earlier than ever, and one has to wonder about how that counsel is impacting their pre-draft decisions. Some teams probably wonât mind â a growing number of teams no longer attend the combine â but the Lions are a team that likes to see players compete, and I canât help but wonder if their evaluations are hurt more by this new era of players more than others.
âYou are dealing with a different, letâs call it athlete, coming into the NFL,â Holmes said. â⌠You have to have different conversations with those players, but you still have to set the same expectations. I canât say otherwise. It really is different. Itâs something that weâve never really experienced in the past, but all you can really do is make the necessary adjustments and adapt.â
Reports are that his interviews with scouts didnt go well behind closed doors. Not that it was terrible apparently, but they just didnt go well.
Think its a team trying to lower his stock to grab him cause he doesnt have a history that i know of or bad stuff behind the scenes but something to note.
Right, I saw some more on it after you mentioned it last night. Seems he also gave a public interview that had people scratching their heads, but I couldnât watch it at the time.
Ending on a bummer here, I was told by an NFC scout that Ohio State all-class safety Caleb Downs had a couple of issues flagged during his medical check,â Kinnan wrote. âNobody expected him to test this week anyway, so it flew a bit under the radar. However, I was told that Downs was flagged with a partially torn meniscus this week. That is not a serious concern, but also being flagged with a potentially degenerative ACL is. Now, this is not to signify any sort of significant drop for Downs, who likely will return and get a second opinion and a second check. Besides, plenty of NFL players have been flagged with degenerative knees before, but have gone on to have successful NFL careers.â
uhh⌠chance Downs might be at our pick?
Kirby Joseph: hold my beer.
if Monroe Freeling is there at 17⌠best case scenario
Agree completely. But I notice Baltimore was still picking 14th, so I have a hunch that was a fairly old mock.
it might have been
I think theyâd need to jump the Rams to secure Freeling⌠If heâs there at 12, thatâs the spot to trade into⌠Not sure they have the ammo and I donât want to give away 2027 picks
It would require our 1st and 2nd.
That said, I donât think the Rams will be going T. I know itâs a popular âneedâ for them, but their fans swear up and down itâs actually further down the board because McClendon killed it in place of Havenstein this year. And they just paid Alaric Jackson at LT, so I doubt they go LT either.
I think if he makes it past Cleveland at 6 thereâs a chance he could drop to LV at 14. The Bengals are one place he could go at 10, but they have a ton of defensive needs and at least have Orlando Brown for one more year. The Chiefs, Saints, Commies, Dolphins, and Cowboys seem set. TB and the Jets are set. Really itâs Cleveland, Cincy and LV we gotta worry about imo, and Cincy not as much.
Or any team that trades with the Jets to get above us since the whole world will know weâre targeting tackle.
I like your logic⌠Still, getting to 13 is tough⌠Maybe a pick swap 50 for 61 and the higher 4th? Probably not⌠Does Manu have any value?
Maybe. Our 1st and 2nd is a little expensive to move from 17 to 13, so theyâd probably have to give us a pick back. But our FOs have a lot of history and have done a few trades, so I wouldnât be surprised if we couldnât work something out.
