I hear the Jeep Cherokee Trackhawk can do 103 in a residential area.
4 runner?
probably one of my favorite cars. I had an 04. BUT there’s a reason you don’t see a ton of those on the road anymore. They do have their share of issues, especially the V6 version that eats timing chains. ![]()
About 10 years ago, I was where you were at, I needed something that could tow my boat. I didn’t want a monster truck or even a monster SUV becaue most of the time I would NOT be towing my boat. Most of the mid-size SUV’s couldn’t haul much EXCEPT for the Audi Q5 with the 3.0, which can tow 3800 lbs. I bought one cert used in 2017. 140K later it has only needed brakes, tires and filters. And fast as hell when you’re not towing.
I found this interesting, do you plan to travel at 120MPH ![]()

Well GM wins and Toyota loses…![]()
GOOGLE the Northstar and there’s plenty that comes up. The thing is, I’ve already had it for 5 years and only put rear brakes and a new battery in it. If it blew up tomorrow I would thank it for time served. I literally only drive it on the hwy because I can walk or ride my bike to anywhere I need to go in town and I shop in larger towns when I am running people to their Dr’s appt’s. I’ve only put 3,500 miles on it in the last year, which means if it makes it to 120,000 I’ve got 4 years left. 2005 and after got way better ratings but that’s OK, I like mine fine.
oh that’s great, i’m happy for you.
just sharing what I found out with it. aside of the HORRENDOUS gas mileage (but so so so fun to drive it) it really did have it’s share of gremlins. I got it with only 30k on it and it had already had one head gasket changed, which I guess costs in the range of 2.5-3k because of how much work you need to do to get it out which is nuts to me.
but generally the people that can afford caddys like that new don’t care about stuff like that ![]()
Yeah I went in with eyes wide open. If the starter goes at this point I would part it out because of what it takes to get one out and back in again. Plenty of potential end of the road scenarios at this point but for now it runs fine. Looking to move this one though and it will kill me when I do.
