I hit 19 homers this week and lost the category and got my ass beat by the 13th ranked team in the league.

Week 17 will be two weeks due to the MLB All-Star Game and run from July 13th through July 26th. Roster deadlines, innings-pitched minimums, and weekly transaction limits won’t change or reset during this fantasy week.

Monkeys are starting to eat their bananas. Two winning weeks in a row…really needed that big win this last week. Not a coincidence my team is better after moving on from the fat lards Cal and Eugenio. They were literally and figuratively weighing me down.

Spencer Torkelson is having a hell of a lot better season than Cal Raleigh.

Cal has sucked this year for sure but last year was a real outlier in his career. He is a career .220 hitter and yes he has power but he got massively overdrafted in most fantasy leagues due to 1 massive season

Just take a look at those batting averages and OPS stats over the years.

I saw some crazy stat that was just about his hard hit balls this season. It was insanely low. He’s just not making good contact. I just went looking for the numbers again but couldn’t find them. I don’t really pay much attention to the Mariners. Has he been hurt this season?

Yes he had an oblique strain and missed several weeks. I’m sure that impacted the swing. I still think he’s a 30 homer guy when healthy, just not a 60 homer guy. I doubt he ever gets anywhere close to that again

That at least makes some sense. Maybe he will find the power for the second half of the season.

Another factor is catching is one physically demanding position. That can really wear some guys down over time. Most good hitting catchers end up learning to play first base for a reason.

Also he’s getting the Barry Bonds treatment in a degree where he’s just not getting anything to hit. Well he does take walks he’s taking them at about the same Pace he did last year and my guess is he could probably take them at a greater Pace but he’s all screwed up in the head trying to swing his way out of the swamp

While you boys all were sleeping, I got Tommy Tanks. Time to take over.

Surely some idiot didn’t trade one of his favorite players for one of the worst catchers in baseball this season?

And you had a great catcher and you traded him to me for Chris Bassitt.

Imagine my team if I didn’t make a couple of those moves:

C: Dingler
1B: Arraez
2B: Turang
SS: McGonigle
3B: Murakaki
LF: Yordan
CF: O’Neil Cruz
RF: Soto
Util: Grisham
Util: Hoerner
Util: Jacob Wilson or somebody
BN: Judge
BN: Will Smith

SP: Skubal
SP: Sanchez
SP: Valdez
RP: Miller
RP: Duran

I’d basically have the same rest of my pitching staff.

I’d argue my team now is better on paper, but that team would be performing waaaaaay better.
