Well it could be that. But also that her sponsors were paying her 10M but only on the condition that she competed. So there was an 8 figure reason combined with her competitiveness. Which of us wouldn’t have tried if someone offered you 10M just to compete on a busted wheel.

Wow I did not know that. Imagine trying to play in an nfl game after blowing your acl the week before. That’s basically what she did. Downhill skiing is probably even more dangerous. Crazy they cleared her to go in that condition.
In addition to a ruptured ACL, she also had a bone bruise and meniscus damage.

Vonn is ok.. she is pretty tough, just another acl tear. No big deal for her. She has had spectacular crashes in her career and still looks hot.

I think it would be hilarious to see Fox in any martial art, wrestling, or boxing with other “athletes”
USA i think has better overall goaltending. Canada has 4 solid forward groups and I expect Toews and Macar to play half the game on defense vs USA
Before we crown either USA or Canada, let’s not forget that Czechia, Finns and Swedes have mostly NHL players and not just 4th liners. Germany will have a solid PP with Draisaitl, Seider and Stutzle.
Should be incredible hockey to watch.

Woman has guts.
I mean she skied on a torn ACL and had to have her bindings cranked down so tight her ski’s didn’t release during her crash. Hence her left leg expolded.
I will give Vonn tons of respect.
Very sad for her because she tore it up in the qualifier and was a threat to win the Gold but had a terribly freak thing with her pole hitting a gate while she was in the air and spinning her sideways
Hope she has a full recovery. And hope she relegates herself to skiing for fun.

I much prefer the Winter over the Summer Olympics. Being born and raised in snow country, IMO, largely contributes to my feelings and relate ability. also, it helps a lot if One has actively participated in some of these sports, and can appreciate the nuances and skill level required. I played hockey for many years, skied, and attempted head-first slides on my Great Sleds of my youth and toboggan runs at Kensigton. There were actual Gold Medals awarded in 1934 for the 8-man toboggan run.
Observing at ground-level eye in the Skeleton is scary. Ski Jumping off the 90ft hill is insane. I LOVE Cross Country competition and especially, the Biathlon, team and individual competitions. European countries typically rule in those events and the Conditioning and Wax Prep make all the difference. It’s GREAT to see so many outdoor sports, whereby, the Americans are average at best, with some upsets occassionally. European crowds, flags, and team colors really bring out the excitement.
