I refereed football at almost every level for 50 years. One thing I’ve seen a lot of is players who are either more developed in HS and they dominate their competition, or players who have a special skill that works for them and who are uninterested in developing more skills. I see Rice as the second type of player. Will the light come on? I dunno. I watched Jerry Rice standing on the sidelines of most of Brendan’s games and even though he offered advice, it never seemed to make a difference. I guess you’re right–Brendan is not a name for a football player.
