Anyone had a tooth pulled? Last night got home, and bit into my bacon burger. I notice something felt odd. Ran into the bathroom and half of my molar was gone. Btw I have really bad anxiety with going to the dentist. I started to have a nervous breakdown. Anyway my wife found a spot that will knock me out. My appointment is on 18th and im heading up north Thursday the same week. How long did it take not to feel pain and heal up?
Knock you out for a pulled tooth? Seems overkill. Had one pulled last September and implant put in. They numbed me for the pull, and stuck in the post, took about 5 minutes. Had zero pain throughout the whole experience. Was eating normal the next day with zero painkillers.
I also get my cavities drilled with zero numbing so I might be a bit of an exception.
Its my anxiety thats why
I’ve heard of people needing surgery after anal gone wrong but never oral. Are you sure that you are properly fellating?
I have severe anxiety with Dentist. When I was young our dentist would purposely make it painful as a way to teach us proper technique. I hate it but I have to take an anxiety pill just go to and I am still an absolute wreck. My new dentist is amazing but it is now a built in reaction for me. I totally understand you. Of the stuff I have had done the pulling of a tooth was fairly tame. There was some pain afterwards but it was gone after a few days but no where near as bad as the tooth pain before hand.
A lot of people need to have oral surgery including myself due to the fact that I have deep roots. So yeah when needed do it. You don’t want one of those roots getting into your nasal cavity like mine did when they tried busting up the tooth because it wouldn’t come out easily.. Then I needed the oral surgery.
Definitely no braces allowed. Or a retainer for that matter.
My mom got.a tooth pulled last year . She said it hurt for a day or two. But I got my wisdom teeth pulled took for ever for the pain to go away
Im getting it done. Pain is like a 2 right now.
The Wisdom tooth was much worse. Mine all grew in weird and were shattering because of it. Which the dentist said made it easier for him to pull. Though it was much worse then the other teeth. I would say its not even a comparisson.
From what I can remember the novocaine shot going into the gum was the worse part. Though if your going to be knocked out that will help.
Shots dont work on me. Got a filling 20 years ago and felt everything. But the noise drives me insane. Same with the smell of the gloves
Oh yea, screw that drill sound. I hear something like it and I swear my teeth start to hurt lol.
My oral surgeon cracked mine before extraction and I had virtually no pain or bleeding. My brothers were yanked out whole and he had a whale of a recovery.
I had an infected wisdom tooth pulled with novacane shots, and had wisdom teeth extracted while under anesthesia.
The pain will be a general soreness, and you will be tasting blood for awhile. It is IMPERATIVE, that you follow their instructions on managing changing the gauze, and do not drink anything that involves sucking like with a straw. Dry socket is the nightmare pain you want to avoid, thats where the scab comes off early and now the bare gum is exposed. Even air on it is painful.
If you follow their instructions, it will be sore but fine. Soft ice cream will be your friend!
Edit: It is wild that in todays day of modern medicine, the method for pulling teeth has not changed at all. It’s still good old (specialized) plyers, going in and pulling it out with brute force.
For those with anxiety about the dentist, you just have to read A MIllion Little Pieces by James Frey (even though its not all true), and your anxiety will seem totally insignificant.
So knocking out completely?
I share this anxiety, have had cavities done the normal way. Lots of them unfortunately.
I did get sedation dentistry for some work a few years ago. They didn’t want to knock me out bc 1) its more expensive and 2) more serious bc of being knocked out, so they gave me laughing gas. That was awesome. Basically there is no stress or worry at all. Nothing phases you and the second you stand up its gone. I have had work done since without sedation and it has been fine. I think if i needed a root canal or more intense stuff done I’d go sedation again. For me it was worth it. But to be clear I have probably had like 40 dentist visits in my life without this…..had teeth pulled as a kid for braces, cavities and the whole nine without sedation. And I will continue to not use it unless its a big big deal.
Its the sounds and the feeling i hate.
are you just getting a crown? My wife split one of her molars last year and that’s all they did to repair it.
Im not sure. Good portion of my tooth is gone.
