Our favorite Ravens fan on Clowney

I’ve agreed for two years now.

I love his content. I’m expecting either Z or Clowney to be signed.

Both would nice

Clowney is high floor signing you know what you are getting.

Z can rush inside

Hutch, Levi, ZDarius , Clowney/ Davenport

That’s a nasty rush 4 until Alim is healthy.

I see no world in which we sign Clowney.

I thought Z was a no brainer for us, but Risdon’s reporting about how the Lions like their edge room better than I do makes me a little nervous. I believe it is that I do not see a world where Davenport stays healthy, so I mentally remove him from the depth chart.

I do like what Davenport brings as far as play on the field. I just don’t see enough of it over the course of the season.

Clowney is stylistically a better fit IMO. We have plenty of inside-outside options. Clowney would give us a second Davenport style can crusher.

But Clowney may not fit with our culture. :man_shrugging:

That is how I see it as well.

We have an edge room?

I see 10 DTs

Hutch… is the EDGE room.

Davenport in the trainers office…and international Hassassin

That’s it.

I keep hearing that but never see any actual examples. Dude had micro fracture surgery in his rookie season I believe and has played for 10 years. Ravens have nothing but good things to say about him.

He’s not a turd, he’s just not as football mad as we like our guys to be. Kind of a laid back guy, his motor doesn’t run cold, but it’s not exactly hot either. Let’s go with warm.

Personally I’d be very satisfied with a platoon of Davenport and Clowney opposite Hutch. And then when Marcus gets a paper cut it’s Clowney and a committee.

I guess but you need to have some grit to play 10 years in the league is all I’m saying. Especially on the Dline.

I think you just need to be a pro. Which I’d be fine with personally, lots of guys don’t love the game or play it for money and have long, good careers (Trent Williams is a good example). But our FO isn’t like that. Hard to fault them, don’t want to mess with what’s working.

Unless there’s another rash of injuries, I don’t think Clowney finds a place in Detroit.

I’m influenced by Jeff Risdon when he says the Lions like their edges better than most people outside Allen Park do. That includes their vision for Derrick Barnes. Also, Clowney like Z is not the future and he blocks development of younger players necessary in Brad’s quest for sustained excellence.

Feelings. Nothing more than feelings…

Yea I think injuries will force us to bring someone in. Zadarius is the logical choice. I love Risdon as well, but I don’t believe the guys we have right now at edge will be who we are looking at week one of the season. Davenport has played like 7 games in 2seasons and Hutch is coming back from a serious leg injury. I get what the lions brass is saying but I’m just not buying it.

I would much rather have Z than Clowney as my trust level in Clowney isn’t all that.

The nice thing about signing Jadeveon is he’ll get to Allen Park in his Clowney car and there are limitless Edges inside of it.

He’s injury prone for sure, but last year’s was as flukey as it gets. Also means he’s further removed from the more serious ones that have plagued his career. He should be as healthy as he’s been in a loooong time.

What’s the point of predicting what we will or won’t do? Why not advocate for what you all think we will do.

Not being a hardcore “football guy” matters less on a 1 year deal than for a first round draft pick.

Both guys played about 1,200-1,250 snaps and had 14.5-15 sacks over the past 2 years with comparable QB hits and TFL

Z was graded slightly better and had more pressures.

Maybe we’re under-rating the ADHD Egyptian rook?
