Lol, the real problem is fans get to see about 10% of the big picture when it comes to actual team strategy, structure, salary cap, etc., but they think they have 100% of all the knowledge required to run an NFL team. True hubris in virtually every case.

The running back wasn’t a backup. He was a starter who wanted to be a starter and wanted starter money. The Lions were already paying him top 10 positional money, he wanted MORE money. They needed to pay Gibbs. He wanted out of Detroit, he cared more about his status and Benjamin’s then he did winning and the team.

The back to back drafts have not been crap….Lord have mercy.

There is literally nothing realistic that could have been done to prevent this.

80% of the 2024 offensive line is out of the NFL right out due to retirement or just being old.

That’s a borderline pro bowl left tackle and a HOF caliber center. Then the all pro safeties died.

For Brad Holmes to prevent decline from 2024 it would have taken the greatest 5 year GM run in NFL history.

And I’m not saying Brad hasn’t made mistakes but fans are delusional in how hard it is to stay good in a salary cap sport with a 100% injury rate

I think the time to go all in has passed. We’re not close enough anymore. I think what you really missed is coaching. Add a Brian Flores to the team we had a couple of years ago and you have a real contender.
