I donât think they thought they were replacing Monty.
It looks like they have a new plan for RB. Gibbs for around 70-75% of snaps/carries (the âbell cowâ) and RB2 gets the rest.

Itâs safe to say everybody knew he would end up here. It was only a question of before the season starts or right after the season starts.

I think itâs Saylors for sure, but if so, why did they lean on him so heavily in the preseason?
Either way I wish the Lions had more depth at RB but I do agree with others that some young fresh legs can keep the chains moving if the OL plays like we know they are capable of. Coach Fraley we need you to earn those big checks buddy!

Calm down champ first it was a joke and second it is almost like neither preseason games or beat writers reporting on camp matter once the real games start.
What a concept! Before you start i would much rather have Montgomery over Saylors as RB2 i dont think anyone on this board would feel otherwise.

Why Pacheco wasnât put on IR before cut down
Before cutdown you have to give him the âto returnâ designation. Which automatically uses one of your 8 regular season activations.
By putting him on IR after cut downs. You dont use one of your 8 activations till hes actually activated to the 53.
Why would you do that if your expecting him to be back in 4-6 weeks? Unless your expecting him to take longer. Like 8-10+ weeks. So you dont want to burn that activation now incase you need it later for someone else more critical or god forbid he never gets healthy.

Funny thing is, Ryan Poles from the Bears just used that same line when talking about Kyler Gordon. Iâll take âThings you donât want to hear your GM sayâ for 500 Alex.
I donât think it will turn out to be the case, but there is now a better than 0 chance we never see Pacheco play as a Lion. He was only on a 1 year deal to begin with.

I just thought about this, but IF⌠Pacheco canât play for us, we would end up with 2 offseason free agent signings that never played a down for the Lions. Pacheco and Dortch. That would be pretty crazy.
Both of which were signed at basically the vet minimum
