Our increasingly patchwork secondary balled the eff out and Anzalone coming back gave the whole defense a huge boost. Amik deserves all the recognition for taking on Jefferson like that.
reminds me of a crustier jerry jacobs.
gritty sob.
keep him!
From the article:
JJ a great player. A great player,ā Robertson said. āThe only thing that kind of rubbed me the wrong way was after the first game, he scored on me, and I told him, āGood game.ā This game, he just walked off the field.
A poster here was saying Jefferson was a consummate pro.
Apparently that doesnāt include staying on the field for a few minutes after the game and shaking a few hands. Straight to the locker room to cry about the officiating.
Heās a great player. But this does say something about him.
Anzalone absolutely locked him up one-on-one. TJ couldnāt deal with AAās physicality, couldnāt get separation, and just resorted to flopping more often than not.
Yep. His career with the Raiders was pretty clear⦠they played him inside for the first part of it and he was just a jag, then he had to move outside is final year (because of injury naturally) and really took off. Itās one of the reasons I thought Branch might stay at nickel, because I thought Amik was brought in to play outside in a rotation with Davis and Terrion. I still wonder if that might have been the plan, but Iffyās injury messed it up.
If we can hang on to E-Man and BroMart⦠then I think keeping the guy who shut down a top 3 in the NFL WR on a team we have to beat to win our division, is a no brainer.
The Lions should pay for the surgery in China and South America for Amik. The surgery adds two metal rods into a manās legs to make him taller. Letās make him 6ft. Then, heāll get the props that he absolutely deserves.
Iām with you, brotherā¦Very thankful for so much, and definitely including trading Hoch and his massive salary away and replacing it with an upgrade for pennies on the dollar. Hahahahahahaaaaa!
A tonās been said about the pressure the Lionsā front seven put on Darnold - and rightly so. Not enuf about how the entire secondary, and sometimes the LBs, held up in their one-on-ones. Pressure notwithstanding there were PLENTY of times Darnold had time in the pocket or bought time and couldnāt find anyone open for a long minute. In fact, Iām sure it happened, but I canāt remember a time he connected with someone off a scramble drill.
VERY impressive.
Darnold definitely missed some huge opportunities that could have shifted the dynamic. (That one where Amik bit on the short route in the endzone and JJ was WIIIIIIIDE open behind him, only to be inexplicably overthrown, stands out.) But I hope the D will hold itself to a different standard from here on out.
