Carroll would be one hell of a signing for CHI and he’s more what they need than Ben Johnson is.

Pete gets how to build a team and manage a staff. He will get everyone on the same page.

I doubt CHI hires him for that reason. Too many ego’s in that FO.

I’d hate it for Pete to land in CHI. I think he’d right the ship. Just about everyone else is going to fail in CHI. Ben included …. They need a strong trusted personality to pull it all together.

Professional take-haver Mike Florio dished out a doozy on the Rich Eisen Show Tuesday. Harkening back to the deal that brought Jon Gruden to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2002, Florio floated the idea of the Bears making a trade for Shanahan.

“One thing that I don’t think happens enough is the Jon Gruden model, where you call up a team and you say, ‘Are you interested in releasing your coach and what would the compensation be?’” Florio said on the Rich Eisen Show.

“Yes it’s going to cost you something by the way of draft pick compensation but… if you would get Shanahan – and I feel like Shanahan and the 49ers are getting close to the point where they would benefit mutually from a fresh start – if you can get Shanahan and join him at the hip with Caleb Williams, are you kidding me?” the man who gave us ProFootballTalk added.

Caleb is just the sort of QB who frustrates the hell out of Shanny. It’s why he never really gave Lance a shot and loves Cousins so much… he wants a QB to run his offense.

I think the NFL will retire Carroll the same way they retired Belichick. Every owner or GM wants to think they’re hiring someone for the next 10-15 years who’s in tune with modern players and up to date with the latest innovations in the game. That’s not Pete Carroll, as good of a coach as he is.
