Normally I would say that but he is pretty well agile for a man of that size. His frame seems like it fare much better than George Muresans.
Yao Ming wasn’t too much bigger, and his feet had him out of league pretty quick.
Yao was a lot bigger. 7’5.5” 310.
There’s a very short list of guys who played effectively at that weight. Shaq, Mark Eaton, for about 5 years Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Arvydas Sabonis, and those last 2 had a good amount of feet and leg problems
Yao was a few inches taller… so that is 20-30 pounds difference.
Wemby also gained about 30 pounds in the past year….
up to 235 listed weight…. and may continue to gain weight as he fills out.
The point still stands… many guys of that height have difficulty staying healthy… particularly with foot injuries.
Wemby has a similar build as Ralph Sampson, who had very creaky knees. If Wemby can stay healthy he should win some championships.
Mutumbo played for a long time.
“Who wants to sex Mutombo?”
Wemby is 7’5” now. Totally different build at essentially same height.
I’m not sure it’s about the “build” for big guys.
As mentioned above… Ralph Sampson was a thin guy with foot injuries.
Chet Holmgren is a twig…. had a Lis Franc injury.
Bill Walton was slim… had career ending foot issues.
Sam Bowie wasn’t a big dude… had foot issues.
Porzingas is thin, still has foot injuries.
Pau Gasol. Multiple foot injuries.
Joel Embiid had multiple foot surgeries.
There just seems to be a fairly high percentage of really tall guys that don’t have long careers because of foot injuries. Skinny or thick doesn’t seem to matter.
You present compelling evidence that doesn’t match my preconception.
I may have to change my mind.
