POD Article - "If not now for Matt Patricia, then when?"

You have people claiming they would have won 9 games last year if Stafford was healthy despite going 3-4-1 when he did play

The main guy that says it is one my favorite posters too.

I think the secret in NE was to make the system fit the player.

Your point has now sufficiently been proven that everyone thinks we will win more games than we ultimately do. As much as we’ve been put through as a fanbase, there should be many more eternal optimists around here that are more vocal in support for every move than they are. Simply out of blind allegience to the team and/or Stockholm syndrome.

I’m on record as saying that this fanbase as a whole doesn’t tolerate perpetual mediocrity but would be better off readily accepting it as “success” and “wins” since that is all they have ever given us.

If The Detroit Lions were a (very stubborn and self-destructive) person, we’d be arguing back and forth as caring loved ones about how we could change them and get them to improve, etc… Yet, if we just accepted the fact that they will only ever be exactly what they have always been then we can just enjoy them for who they are and the fleeting “good times” before we dump them in the nursing home/rehab/jail.

It’s completely irrational to be optimistic about this team, though - why should we be irrational? There are a ton of people on this site who defend the moves of this team, and I don’t know why they are so quick to try to defend something that I bet they don’t really believe in either.

I’m not a negative Nancy by default…if anything, I’m probably a little bit more optimistic about my own home teams than the national commentators are. That doesn’t mean you have to be illogical, though.

Looks like not all players leaving hate Matt Pat: https://detroitsportsnation.com/former-detroit-lions-te-logan-thomas-gives-interesting-comment-matt-patricia/mwhitaker/detroit-lions-news/03/24/2020/222761/?fbclid=IwAR2This48RC8KO0kJ_K8rLpnBwwzIgcGWSDMgHVVUnqwCV-il3fjiHiHM7w
