Practice Squad Thread

Seems we’re here. Who you want to poach?

Chris Wormley should be numero uno. Now basically one year out from the ACL. Sitting on the Ravens PS. Grab him and get him acclimated for the Playoff run. Has local ties of course. Can play up and down the defensive line. He’s been brought up before but he just makes so much sense.

Two rookies that I think could help us. Not sure we want to go young though.

DT. Gabe Hall is on the Eagles practice squad. I liked him a bit coming out of Baylor. Probably more of a 5T type in a perfect world.

CB Quinton Newsome out of Nebraska is on the Broncos PS. Was always a pretty sticky man cover guy while at Nebraska. Thought he’d go tail end of the draft last year but did not.

Off ball LBer is really tough. Drake Thomas is on the Seahawks practice squad and was a solid player at NC state.

As has been mentioned Chase Lucas off of the 49ers would make some sense if we do need more corners. I don’t think he’s the kind of DT that we need to replace Wingo but Quinton Bohanan is on the Seahawks PS. Anthony Pittman is on the Jags PS. So if we lean into familiarity there are three potential adds.

Gabriel Murphy is on the Vikings PS. I don’t think we’re looking for a DPR type though.

Tre Herndon is on New Orlean’s PS. 34 career starts and from Detroit. Don’t think he’s ever been a particularly good CB though.

Anybody have other ideas. Seems like Off ball LBer, CB and DL are all needs now

Righteous effort!!!

Wormley just makes so much sense.

Good call. Vet with lots of starting experience. He could help.

LBer is brutal. Which makes sense given the dearth of quality college off ball types and the need for them on ST.

Absolutely. Does Allen Park have a suggestion box?

Btw, did Terrell coach Gabe Hall at the Senior Bowl?

The leagues practice squad = our active defensive roster

On the plus side, LBs (along with RBs and iOL) can often prove to be big-time early hits. That’s why they have such low positional value, you can often find good ones for cheap. Sincere McCormick had been on the Raiders practice squad for like 3 years before stepping in yesterday and having the best game a RB has had for the Raiders all year. And against a great defense.

Haha pretty much. If knock on wood we can keep Alim, Reader, Jack, Branch and Kerby out there we still are really strong up the middle and deep.

Fantastic effort.

I’d also like for CJ Mosley to ask for his release to latch on with a contender (you know, while we’re asking for shit).

So maybe that Jack pick at 18 wasn’t so bad? Can you imagine how screwed we would be right now?

Other guys I would look into:

Micah Abraham, CB, Cincy
Kahlef Hailassie, CB, Cleveland
Deslin Alexandre, Edge, Green Bay
Kamal Hadden, CB, Green Bay
Gregory Junior, CB, Houston
Austin Ajiake, LB, Indianapolis
Swayze Bozeman, LB, KC
MJ Devonshire, CB, Vegas
Caleb Murphy, SAM, Chargers (local kid)
Nik Needham, CB, Dolphins
Isaiah Johnson, CB, Dolphins
DJ James, CB, New England
Ryder Anderson, Edge, New Orleans
Jackson Sirmon, LB, Jets
Tarron Jackson, Edge, Philly
Dallas Gant, LB, Philly
Jalen Graham, LB, SF (local boy)
Efe Obada, Edge, Washington

Admittedly most of these are guys I liked coming out, but the fact that many have stuck around with their original teams is a good sign imo.

I’d also take a look at Jotham Russell, and edge on NE’s practice squad, because he’s a 21-year-old international player (rugby player from Australia) who actually made it after a tryout. Hard to add him to the active roster though.

Also looks like Drake Thomas got added to Seattle’s active roster @CuriousHusker

I almost brought up Sirmon. Smart player.

Devonshire is great. Could handle PR too.

Damn. He was one of the few LBers that excited me.

Chris Wormley would be nice, but he’s more of a 3-4 DE, right?
Although we could see more looks like that, given the rash of DL injuries.
Trot out a 3-4 DL of Alim, Reader and BroMart for a few plays here and there to throw new looks at Green Bay?
A 3-4 LB crew of Campbell, Long, Alexander and Nowaske is still pretty solid, with Turner and Niemann backing up.
Thank the almighty that the secondary is still is pretty decent shape (fingers crossed).

He is historically athletic enough to play outside as well. I mean I think he’s better at edge than Levi, and we use him there a ton.

Losing Rodrigo is a devastating blow. He was our Ace in the hole.
Now, it’s on Nowaske.
But yes, Wormley would be a big help.

5T is probably ideal but he is kind of a jack of all trades master of none DL.

he is kind of a jack of all trades master of none DL.

Sounds like Cominsky, which is a nice piece to have in the D-line rotation.

I’m a little disappointed in the Lions didn’t pull from this list. Would have been too cool if they did.
