Assuming we keep 6, things are a little interesting at the bubble. I’m not buying Tom Kennedy. He’s like that Boggs lineman we had a few years ago… someone who’s been in enough camp battles that he looks the part against other team’s scrubs, but not someone you want playing when the games count.
I think #6 if they keep 6 would be McKinley or surratt. Although I truly have no idea
Also saw a picture of Surratt without his helmet on in one of the camp photos, holy smokes that kid looks like he’s 15. They’re getting younger or I’m getting older…
I think the WR group should be:
TWill
Amon-Ra
BP
Raymond
Cephus
McKinley
From my vantage it’s pretty clear. I watched a ton of Bolden when he was in Corvallis. He’s never really impressed me much to be perfectly honest.
Feels like Surratt could be given an opportunity. Though Kennedy’s production (against scrubs) was a legit storyline, they really loved Sage when they signed him as a UDFA. Would that mean Surratt makes it over McKinley? Don’t know. But I don’t think either would be plucked from the practice squad if they keep Victor Bolden or Kennedy and stash both. That said, this is a rebuild. So let’s be aggressive and develop the younger guys.
I had Bolden as one of the six that make the roster until this weekend. To put it into the words of The Den, he’s played himself off this team. That’s part of what made this position group interesting enough to discuss again, that and roster cuts coming soon.
If he’s not going to be a big piece on special teams he’s. It
worth keeping. McKinley and Price are two guys that I’d like to get onto the roster as I think each have upside. Price is probably a safe bet on account ot his special teams contributions. Hopefully McKinley can find a niche in that phase.
The practice squad rules are the same as last year, which was liberalized from non-pandemic years. As I recall, you can protect maybe 4 practice squad players from poaching, so that in essence expands who you can keep. I could be very wrong about that. This is where a meticulous bean counter would come in handy… I don’t have time at the moment.
Amon ra at brown legittttt
Give Kennedy and Boldin some time with the starters the next 2 weeks to truly see what they got. We got nothing to lose, this is a rebuilding roster. Might as well play the youngsters.
And yes, St. Brown is going to be a stud.
I’d add Surratt and McKinley to those two as well. Play them all with the starters, or the 2nd team.
I wonder what the snap distribution will look like for game 2
I’m not sure Surat has actually shown much at all in camp. I’ve not been there, but I haven’t heard anything that would suggest otherwise
I just don’t really see what Surratt offers that McKinley doesn’t. Sage might be moderately better at boxing out defenders due to his basketball background but McKinley is no slouch in 50/50 scenarios and is a much better athlete.
Yeah… I’d pick McKinley over Sage every day… and 3 times on Sundays!
