Glasgow was not supposed to do this well and yet he was a critical part of Goff and a perfect game
Props to him and the leadership for having such high quality back up on stand by!!

Yeah the Oline looked good last night
Frank’s the problem.
Glasgow has always been a better center than guard, and he’s a pretty good guard. I was pleasantly surprised that we didn’t get outbid for him this offseason by a team that wanted to start him at center. It probably would have taken a hefty offer to make him leave Detroit, but there’s often one team desperate enough to cut a check that a player can’t turn down.
Speaking of replacements I think Brandon Joseph and Awosika both had good games.
I have said this a few times dating back to last year but I feel like Awosika has done a real nice job in his last few games played. Basing that solely on eyes and feels and not hard data though.
He’s a pretty good RG, but he’s usually struggled on the left. He was really bad in his brief time there last year, and so far this year he’d been really bad as well. It was one of my big concerns with the plan this year.
I also said the ideal scenario for us was for someone to play so well, Glasgow gets pushed to a reserve role (backup C/RG for instance). Well Awosika played better last night at LG than Glasgow has all season. Not saying he should replace Glasgow there, but Graham is much better at RG and C.
Development pays off on those. But with Fraley as OL Coach I expect every OL to get better.
Maybe ragnow will rest a few more weeks so he can be more healthy when needed for playoffs. Keep things as is for as long as possible.
I think he always seems to do well when replacing Frank at center, Kayode Awosika also seems to be a good fit at LG. They both play really well.
Why not?
Love GG, and that he wanted to come back here and prolly is playing for less money than he could get elsewhere.
But on the field, so far this year, our best line up seems to be Decker/Awosika/Ragnow/Zeitler/Penei.
That may well be the case. That would be the best case scenario to me because it means Awosika’s taken enough of a leap to push Glasgow to the bench.
I just don’t know we can be certain of that yet. Awosika had a really good game last night, but Sorsdal had a really good game stepping in at RG last year before fading. I think there’s a better chance Awosika’s more consistent since he’s more of a vet, but it’s an unknown right now. But I never thought Glasgow was a good fit at LG.
Awosika never seems to get the credit he deserves. Some Denisons didn’t even have him on the final 53. To me, he’s pretty much met every challenge put in front of him. He’s a plus starter (Sorsdal is not).
The staff knows best, maybe KA is not a great practice player, but game tape right now says he should be playing LG over GG.
It’ll be interesting to see what the week 6 lineup is. I expect it will go back to how we opened the season, but KA just might have done enough here to start at LG.
@jman and I have been singing his praises for awhile, but in-game consistency has always been his issue. He’ll show his talent with a good play then back it up by missing a stunt, etc… Yesterday had far more of the positive plays (promising, since many of the negatives we hoped could be chalked up to inexperience). But it has always been pretty clear he was our highest-ceiling iOL on the bench, at least before this year. He just had consistency issues. If he’s solved them he probably deserves to start.
But one game isn’t enough to say he’s solved them, imo.
Running game seemed to be better yesterday, but can we please stop running it outside.
Nothing worse than a slow-developing play in the backfield on 3rd down. Not only are we going to spend that time behind the LOS, but let’s pitch it back, just for good measure.
Hate it.
I love the way the O-line played but don’t forget that Seattle was missing a pair of DT’s and a pair of DE’s.
He played a fair amount of center at Michigan, Detroit, and then Denver, right? So, it’s not like uncharted territory.
Was that Awisoka’s best game as a Lion? I thought he played legitimately well.
