Ragnow f the lions

Thats it. Oline is shit and we’re about to use those words again.

I’m not going to bad mouth Ragnow, he had to do what was best for him. However, yes it really put us in a tough position with that decision coming post FA and the draft

If he wanted out dont hold the lions back and he did

He let them know the day after the Washington loss… They told him to take time and they’ll revisit it in the spring. It didn’t spring it on them

So its on Holmes then

For drafting a replacemt for Zietler and sliding over a vet Center who’s playing at least average by league standards? Sure

Not in run blocking.
Yes Glasgow has been even top 10 more often than not in pass pro.
But run blocking has ALWAYS been his weak point.
But this has been a KNOWN issue with ragnow and now decker for years. And he chose to get a replacement in the 11th hour.

I think that’s a bit extreme… The 2nd round of the draft is not the 11th hour and GG is not some schmuck… Are they Ragnow? No, but they’re both quality NFL starting level players. If they’re asking them to do things an all pro did (who btw started as a guard his first year next to the same GG) then that’s a disservice to the player and bad coaching. Don’t ask GG to be prime Ragnow, he’s not, as you alluded to… Deploy a scheme that is workable with the talent you have. Why keep running it right behind your weakest link? It’s insanity

You don’t rebuild an position group in one season.

Rags was on life support for a couple of years.

Holmes will need to put even more resources towards the Oline this next cycle. Which seems fine as all the other position groups at this moment seem to be in good shape.

Blaming others never works….

It’s simply reality brother

dude wanted to play and the team wanted him to do so as well… and it simply didn’t work out

As always, win or lose this is my team…. And we will never be perfect

Ragnow did what’s right for him and his family. That deserves applause not critique.

It don’t think it would’ve have mattered if Ragnow let them know immediately after the season or not. You don’t replace Ragnow. He was arguably the best center in the league. Even if he had retired before the draft, there’s zero rookies coming or FA who you could sign who could do what Ragnow did, unfortunately.

Agreed I don’t see any way that to the top three picks are not offensive line. The other pic probably needs to be corner

They should have prepared better if they knew.

I think next year Tate will be at center and that will help. He is much more athletic than GC. Mahogs should be back, GC may be retained as backup and we don’t know what we have in Frazier. The OT spot is more critical because Deckers days are numbered. Even if he does play next year his body is beginning to wear out and right now Skipper and Manu if healthy are our backup options. We need a new starting caliber tackle. Another starting caliber Guard would be nice but we are better off there than tackle.

Tbh, I simply think these guys are still human

The players can get cocky and believe the hype…

Only other thing I think may be a point they need to look? They adjust to give Jamo more chances… and the deeper balls needed more time for the play…. And our Oline and concepts needs to go back to what works and it’s the short quicker route

Agreed!

The dude could barely walk the last couple seasons… Blaming Ragnow is weak sauce

He played in constant pain for years for us. We owe him nothing but love and respect

It’s Holmes fault for drafting Manu.

We should be undefeated right now.

I agree that Ragnow eff’d us. But, that’s his right. The Lions gave him the room and latitude to figure it out. He earned it. He played hurt. Wish the love that was shown to him, in the end, was reciprocated.
