3.5 weeks ago Dan said the “Ship had sailed for that” in regards to Frank ever coming back.
Players said he was already talking to them about coming back at that time.
I wouldn’t take anything Dan says as the gospel when it comes to Frank.

That’s the thing, players who retire don’t usually come back this late in the year. Given how things went with the Hamstring, I think he comes back next year. Next year could be his last year but I don’t think he is ready to be done.
This means he’s done. Like I was saying.
Watching the window close is worse than being irrelevant and having no window at all.
Y’all are too obsessed with windows.
Did the 2019-21 Titans have a window?
What about the 2021-22 Bengals? Sure looks like they had a window.
How about the 2016 Falcons? They got back didn’t they?
What about the 2017 Jaguars?
What about the entire Steelers franchise over the last like seven seasons?
What about the Khalil Mack Bears?
The Todd Gurley / Goff Rams?
The 15-1 Panthers?
No team has ever been subject to a window before.
I’m saying we don’t know the outcome. So, possibly.
If a year or two years from now TesLaa develops into the Lions clear #1 receiver, would anyone say giving up two 3rd round compensatory picks to get him was too much? Before you jump to saying I’m predicting that, I don’t know, but neither does anyone else.
I think Detroit needs another edge rusher also, but I get what Holmes is saying and it makes sense to me. I don’t think it’s a position he’s not going to address.
The Rams are a very good example of why people need to calm down about closed windows. The same with the Steelers for about 20 years.
What about the 2023 Eagles?
We’re trying to be the Ravens. Personally I’m fine with that.
Windows aren’t closed until they’re closed for good.
Ours isn’t closed in that regard.
But there are many more teams that go from the 2022 Eagles to the 2023 Eagles and don’t become the 2024 Eagles than do become the 2024 Eagles.
He could un-retire again.
Could this be as simple as this is how to reclassify him as regards cap this year and for 26 cap planning?
Methinks mebbe yes. Villainy postponed, not prevented.

Oh ok, so the window is closed? That’s official now? The Lions have a bunch of old guys on the roster whose best days are behind them? You think this is worse than what the Browns are going through?
Hmm ok, I’ll just have to disagree on all this. I have been on the record saying that the Lions had a REAL chance to win the Superbowl the previous two seasons and that this season would be a step back but I don’t think it’s over for this group that is filled with guys in their prime or just entering it, all locked up long term outside of a few.
I questioned the entire off-season the past two years… you know- during the off-season
Hooker- I called an injured 25 year old rookie form a gimmick offense that would do nothing but BUST, or create a controversy he couldn’t live up to. He chose door #1
Martin- big, fat, slow, weak, and unproductive against low level competition. Still scratching my head.
Manu- we evidently decided to avoid guys with recent collegiate OT experience and seek out physical specimens and British Columbia?
Vaki- Why draft a guy like Bucky Irving, B Allen, or T Tracy to play RB when there are 23 year old converted safeties to had a few college carries? Or maybe an actual DB like Jaden Hicks?
Teslaa- Who knows? He barely got targeted in college, but executed when he did. Same same?
Nobody wanted Moseley back last year… nobody wanted Davenport back this year. Most wouldn’t have paid Jamo what and when they did, nor Alim, and maybe some would have waited in Kerby even.
Tyliek nor Arnold look like good starters, let alone elite.
That said? We are what we are now….
Enjoy the ride- bitch in the off-season when it’s actually happening…. There is nobody available worth acquiring right now.
They either have it in them to claw out with backups or they don’t.
If Dan lost his ability to summon grit- maybe it’s over. If he didn’t- maybe we show out and beat Dallas’s ass. I’m going to watch just in case. ![]()
I still think this regime is awesome… I think Shep needs to learn, Morton needs to go, and we need a vet and rookie OL of note, and a rookie and vet edge of note… and a vet CB of note.
We shall see
I hope we set our sights higher than this….
The window isn’t closed. Everyone important except Reader, Davenport, Anzalone and Robertson will be back next season. There won’t be much cap space to play around with in free agency, so the draft is going to be defense heavy, but we’ll still have one of the most talented rosters in the league, and we get to see what Rakestraw and Frazier look like too.
The Bengals were a surprise team that year… and Burrow’s injuries have kept them from having a legitimate chance several years.
They also have rarely been favored to win their own division over the Ravens… and the front office is notoriously cheap.
Falcons… also a surprise team. Saints were the main threat of the division… and Kyle Shanahan also left the team right after that season.
2017 Jags? They signed a ton of free agents to huge contracts before that season… while Bortles was on a rookie deal. Biggest problem was… of course… Bortles.
Steelers? They haven’t had a QB capable of joining this discussion in over a decade.
Mack and the Bears??? What??? They got lucky win a division once with a last place schedule and had Trubisky at QB.
2018 Rams… made the Super Bowl!!!
If not for Gurley’s knee… they may have one a Super Bowl.
Also… a weird choice for this argument… considering the franchise won the Super Bowl 3 years later with many of the same players…
but also after they went YOLO and effed them picks.
The 2015 Panthers did surprisingly win 15 games.
The 2014 and 2016 Panthers combined for 11 wins.
They were a fluke for a season.
.
.
Those teams are exactly WHY the Lions front office wants to build a sustainable winner.
You are a very intelligent young man, and I love your passion and your posts.
What does this mean though?
What all your examples equate to is… if Dan isn’t “him” we are likely to be the “Lafleur Packers” of sorts. If he is? We will turn that corner like Andy Reid did in KC…
Is KC’s window closed? Is Allen doomed to go ring-less? Is Lamar done?
will Nix or Maye get the rookie contract QB mantra going again? Is Stroud even a relevant young QB anymore or is that sooo yesterday?
I’ll shoot my shot
#1 Rams
Eagles
Lions
Bucs
SF
Sea
Bears
#1 Bills
Broncos
Jags
Raves
Pats
Chiefs
Texans
That’s what I got
You left off Rake in a ‘24 draft where we absolutely needed offensive line depth. But no, Brad went corner twice, and the irony is we barely got one full season out of one of them.
Otherwise, what you just posted is such a takedown of Brad; it borders on GM malpractice. Maybe it says more about Dan as a coach, squeezing something out of a roster that’s never been as good as we all thought.
Who knows.
I just really hope we win the next 8 games and I’ll hold my complaints until next year at this time. ![]()
Brother- you’ve created something awesome, no doubt.
I’m just saying… I was distraught about the Packers game. Missed half my turkey day dinner while yelling at my screen in the man cave. I didn’t realize my parents and 85 year old grandpa had left already as I lamented the game. No hug goodbye. My grandpa is fine btw-
My employee- good friend I called to congratulate on the Bears win on Friday… he sounded down when he answered, so I chastised what he had to bitch about, his team crushed Philly, and mine ball-gagged…. Then choked up he uttered his grandma has passed a few hours ago…. His Bears win didn’t much matter that day….
It’s entertainment. Friendship. Family
If the only thing that matters is results… it’s kind of like playing blackjack for your mortgage payment, except.. instead of 42%… it’s more like 10% if your are a good team, and 3% if you are a bad team.
The current roster and regime cannot function as they are tied to 50 years of futility…. The other 32 teams don’t care about our feelings
Brad has been brilliant, and then bad… he’s got it in him. Most don’t.
