Another landing spot for Ben?
I cant see him going there. Bowers and what else.
Actually I think it makes the NE job more viable for Ben, because Brady and the Raiders will probably go after Vrabel too.
With Brady being involved in this one, I would think certain qualities/characteristics will weigh heavier than play calling as a coordinator. I’m not saying Ben does or doesn’t posses their qualities, but I would think Vrabel would sit high on this list.
Brady was going on about how much he’d love to be a QB in this offense. I’m assuming he loves Ben
Sure but ownership has been rumored to be a big part of Ben’s thought process. Is Tom as a minority owner enough to get past concerns with Mr. Salad Bowl Haircut?
@HSVLion - always glad to see the grinch gif back!
Go get Maxx!
All of this year’s openings have major flaws.
Saints: Good owner and organization but salary cap hell
Bears: Same division as Lions, bad GM and questionable ownership
Jaguars: Good owner, bad GM
Jets: Bad owner, no existing GM (might not be worst fit for Ben / Glenn depending on who the GM could be)
Patriots: Decent owner, GM who isn’t engrained in the Belichick “Patriot Way” line of thinking, might be the best opening
Raiders: Terrible ownership, decent GM.
I do think the Patriots might be the best fit for Ben.
On the other hand, the Lions weren’t viewed as a plum job after Patricia sucked the life out of this franchise.
Best opening IMO. Not sure if anyone saw them last week but this was interesting.
Joe Milton vs whoever the Bills decided to play completed his first 11 passes and looked good doing it. Besides Maye, he actually looks like he could be decent depth. A good HC and QB and you’re your way in the NFL.
The good news with the Lions job is it wasn’t sold as anything other than a complete rebuild. Also whomever was hired knew that they’d have a few seasons before there would be all that much pressure to produce.
The franchise QB wanted out (and that was known before the coaching / GM search was started) and outside of the franchise QB there wasn’t much other than a few good O-Linemen and a talented TE and RB.
The new coach / GM could pretty much rebuild the team however they wanted (which is what Campbell and Holmes did).
Crosby not a real opinion here, you have to pay Hutch and there some others to pay. Having 2 30 million a year DEs would really hurt your balance
Would also really hurt the balance of opposing QBs too
It’s not a terrible position to invest some money in.
Although we did go 15-2 and Hutch is the most talented player on the team and was out for 2/3 of the season so maybe we shouldn’t put all the eggs in the DE basket.
Interesting thought.
This defense has been able to play well even with out Hutch, but when we lost our 2 coverage LBs and then CD. It fell apart , Anzolone made a huge difference coming back. Rather give money to pay Hutch and keep CD Kirby Rodrigo. But yeah they would be a night mare for QBs.
Isn’t A Rogers still their existing GM?
I think he’s getting fired.
Coach Prime, c’mon down!
