I hope somebody hires coach prime and then passes on shadeur in the draft.

He tried an NFL record with 11 straight completions in his first NFL action. He threw #12 away because he was getting pressured, which means he knew enough to not try and do something stupid. The knock on him was his accuracy early but he clearly has matured.

The Panthers job is the one Ben covets. I really donāt see him taking anything else, knowing itās just a matter of time.
That job would let Ben go home but he is not taking a job there as long as Tepper owns the team.
Youād think it might make one mad at the organization and demand his exit. Iāll say it. With the way this roster is at this moment and what we have locked down already. Iād pull a freaking half-Ditka to bring Maxx in. Mahogany looks like he can man an OG spot as soon as next year. Zeitler could be resigned IMO and I think this ride may just see him running it back. Rakestraw / Arnold / Amik, maybe we can resign Davis then weāre fine there. Safety good. Resign Levi and with him Wingo/ Alim/ Reader we are ok at DT because bringing in a true stud EDGE puts Levi back where he belongs inside. This move would do so much for us and sure pick up Z Smithās option too. Itās cheap enough and have at least two pieces in him and Hutch that can reduce inside situationally.
Yes I know it would be a ton of cash, but at this point in the ābuildā weāre about built. I donāt think this is a really stellar draft class, so it wouldnāt be a bad one to trade picks for an elite EDGE that would fit perfectly with our culture and still can give us several years of top level performance.
This sounds dirty to me.

If Davis was still making the decisions by himself I think this would have had a very good chance of happening, but I think itās far less likely with Brady in his ear.

They donāt need Maxx anyway, heād be a luxury and a luxury that would cost way too much to acquire. Hutch and ZaāDarius will be here, they could sign Davenport for cheap or bring in another guy, Barnes will be back, Paschal etc. Theyāll have some real dudes on edge next season. Of course, as we know all too well, injuries happen but they donāt need another big ticket player. The core is littered with elite players, they just need to supplement them with solid role players. Plus the Lions are going to need to keep adding cheap young talent to replace the inevitable too expensive players that they have to let walk.

Yep. Adding him would require sacrificing our own guys, and we should all know at this point that weāre not gonna do that. Not if theyāve earned their next payday. And itās a fantastic philosophy overall, even if it does cost us a big outside signing now and again.

That ship has sailed. Z, a high draft pick, Paschal, and likely Davenport will man the Edge positions next year.

He has no path to starting with the Lions and his contract offer from brad will reflect that reality.

You are correct that the roster is āabout builtā, but not paid for yet.
If Holmes follows his pattern of signing HIS young productive Stars Early, Hutch and Kerby will be inked to contracts this offseason with an combined Average Annual Value of between $50-$60M.
In addition you spoke about re-signing Zeitler, and then there is Barnes.
Those picks are going to be necessary to continue to build and develop depth.
There will be no significant free agent signings in the near future.
Still need to re-sign Branch, LaPorta, and Jamo.
