Rams (literally) turned Dan Campbell's postgame jab into bulletin board material

82 for me… Glad to know we got some real men around here! My brother was born in 80.

Not surprised. I always felt like your posts lacked two years worth of wisdom.

On the Monday before our 49ers game, McVay hinted they may rest starters for the last game of the year. Rams could have played their starters and gotten the third seed if they win against Seattle. Instead, they choose to rest their guys and drop to the 4th seed. Which not only does that bring them a tougher opponent (playing a 5th seed vs a 6th seed) it also costs them one more potential home game. Remember, the Lions ended as the 3rd seed last year and due to the Packers upset, ended up with 2 home games.

On 1/7, right after Detroit beat Minnesota, you had Kelly Stafford on her podcast saying that she wanted the Rams to play the Lions. You don’t think that Matt was also was saying the same thing? We already know how much Matt was whining after the Rams got beat in the playoffs (Kerby is dirty) and then again after the first game of the year when Kerby picked him off in the end zone.

Now, ask yourself why would McVay intentionally sit starters the last game of the year, costing himself a chance to play as the 3rd seed? Especially when for the first time ever, that 5th seed is coming in as a 14 win team? I think it’s because McVay was figuring the Lions would lose, and they wanted to play the Lions and their injured defense in the playoffs at their house. Now they get Minnesota instead, and all we hear about is how they are miffed that the Lions DARE say “see you in 2 weeks” to Minnesota. Rams eyes are locked on the Lions.

That remains pure speculation and nothing factual as far as what the MO is. The Rams have battled injuries all friggin year….you saw what happened to the Packers in a meaningless game. Maybe McVay didn’t want to risk that?? There is no proof that this had anything to do with the Lions :person_shrugging:

Why did the Packers play their starters then? Oh, that’s right, because the game wasn’t meaningless. They could have won and had Washington lose to get to the 6th seed. Weird, a team playing to actually get a higher seeding, right? The Packers lost Watson, who they are more than used to not playing anyways. Love had a boo boo, Lafluer said he could have went back in but Washington was winning anyways. That’s his story. I watched that game, and in my opinion the reason Love stayed out was because for the past 2 weeks he has been absolute ass. Malik played better than Love did against Chicago. You know who else thinks so? Packer fans.

If they had it to do all over again I’ll bet they wouldn’t play those guys. Wasn’t worth it….and McVay at least already had a division title wrapped up. Still, point being the Rams resting their starters had nothing to do with the Lions and you didn’t provide any proof that it did :person_shrugging:

I gave you an opinion of what I think happened. If you aren’t convinced, oh well? So if you are the Packers, you sit guys the last game of the year and accept playing Philly vs trying to get to #6 seed and play the NFC South winner? I would play for that #6 seed any day.

You’re lucky I love you! Or you will end up as a human pretzel like I did to @Jman in the octagon

I mean I understand what you are saying but with the uncertainty of Jalen Hurts and his concussion protocol I would like the advantage of having a healthier team than my Eagle opponents….especially since the Packers nearly beat them on opening weekend overseas

LA: I’ll see your Dan Campbell innocuous quote and raise you a QB in Goff who is playing his best in his career and would be playing against a former team that he thinks threw him away.

I think Dan was getting into Kevin’s head by conveying that we’ll already be preparing for you again, while watching you struggle on the road. Not nec. for the Vikes to be over-confident.

To me, its the one positive of a Vikings win – they hold onto Darnold. We know how to beat him.

Right. As long as Goff is on the Lions and we play LA, we will always have the motivational edge. Fact remains, they discarded him, and we’re not done rubbing that in their faces.

I started a topic on this previously and pointed out these two things specifically. Its definitely weird that McVay rested starters with the three seed still at stake. It doesn’t make sense. Was it because he “WANTED” the Lions or Vikings and felt more confident that he could beat either of them rather than the Commies? I can’t buy that, specifically. Yet in the back of his mind, he may have felt that a victory over the Lions would be especially sweet. Or maybe that the Lions, Vikes and Bucs all were a similar challenge. Who knows, but I think he made a huge error, especially if they lose this game. If they win it, he’ll say - see I told ya, and they will have some momentum.

First, Thank you. Second, Yay, I’m not the oldest person here!

I think it was simply that their bye week was the same as ours and guys like Cooper and Matt could really use a week off.

It was so stupid to say that. Hope it doesn’t come back, and bite lions in the butt.

Yes. He wants his team healthy and made that a priority over who they faced at home.

You said this:
“McVay announced they were sitting starters to intentionally get the 4th seed so they could play the Lions being the “home” team.”

McVay never announced that. The Lions had nothing to do with the decision.

With the game being played in Arizona I hope a bunch of Lions fans that snowbird down there go to the game. I would love to see a Sea of Blue down there cheering on the Vikings and infuriating McVeigh and Co.

No disrespect to the few Rams fans that are out there… but McVeigh can pound fricken sand. I can’t stand that guy.

I’ll go drink straight from a bottle of wine now.
