So, we have this Los Angeles, California fire, and I don’t understand why these young people are wearing masks outside, you know? But if older people are wearing masks outside, if they have some health issue, it makes sense. And these rich people, you know, I don’t know why they don’t have common sense. You don’t get sick outside, you know? Inside, yeah, you can get sick, you know, if the virus is spreading.
The state of California has been mismanaged forever, make no mistake, but with these winds, there’s little that could be done to stop these fires… Plenty could be done ahead of time, but that’s not where they’re at now and people are suffering as a result. California gonna California though… Joe Rogan made a comment only a few weeks ago on his show… When he was still living in LA, he was talking to a fire fighter who admitted that some day, with the right conditions, a fire would burn all the way to the ocean and there would be nothing they could do to stop it… Crazy timing.
I am involved with a company that produces real wood veneers for almost 100yrs now. They have their own huge forests that are managed for fast growth and regrowth.
I say that as part of my involvement is offering seminars which includes segments on forests and how to manage them. The firefighter was spot on.
We’re in the process of building a new home. One of the things we intend to have is Hardie Plank Siding which is made out of cement. According to their website, you could take a flamethrower to the siding and it won’t burn.
I’d research it further.
What is the melting temperature?
Is it Class A CC1?
45min, 60min, 90min 120min fire rated? I’m guessing it will be 90 or 60min rated product. My point being fire tests vs large intense fires are not the same thing, can still create bldg issues.
It’s kind of like having hurricane impact rated windows and doors. They can definitely save the home and insurance costs but they, those actually impacted, will need to be replaced. It’s why you see many homes still have hurricane shutters with the impact windows. They cover the windows, can absorb the impact and replacement costs are minimal vs cost impact rated windows.
From what I’ve read it was a losing battle between state and federal cooperation. California controls about half the forests witn 20 million of National Forest acres under Federal control. And the continuing resolution process in our budget always left the program without funds
Just a lot of inefficiencies all across the board. Makes me want to move back to Michigan. What natural disasters is MI at risk for? Besides Canadians
Investigations by California-based media outlets have repeatedly slammed Newsom for failing to deliver on his promises upon taking office in 2019 of revamping the state’s wildfire strategy.
He’s been accused of overstating his accomplishments and pulling much-needed funding from fire safety and land management even as the amount of burnable fuel was piling up to dangerous levels.
Newsom’s office did not immediately respond to DailyMail.com’s request for comment.
An investigation from CapRadio and NPR’s California Newsroom found Newsom had failed to deliver on the promise of the executive order signed on his first day in office in January 2019, aimed at revamping the state’s wildfire strategy.
Those outlets in 2021 accused him of misrepresenting his accomplishments and even pulling much-needed funds out of wildfire prevention
They found Newsom overstated, by an astounding 690 percent, the number of acres treated with fuel breaks and prescribed burns in the areas he had said needed to be prioritized.
Newsom had claimed that 35 ‘priority projects’ carried out as a result of his 2019 executive order resulted in fire prevention work across 90,000 acres of land.
But the state’s own data showed the actual number was just 11,399 — some seven times less
The fires are awful, and prayers for the families impacted. But that really sucks for LA… A road game after winning the division. That’s tough. I know they don’t have many fans to begin with… The Stadium is going to be purple!
