I hear ya brother. I do have a honey glazed ham too and it’s funny but when I bought it I thought of how good it will smell in the house.

I do Thanksgiving about as simple as possible, both my adult children will be home and have their fav’s. Turkey in a bag, cut the corner when done and use liquid to make gravy. Red cabbage from a jar, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing, scalloped corn, crescent rolls, sweet potato casserole with pecan topping. Simple pumpkin pie and milk bones for their dogs. Done, I make plenty of stuffing and then make turkey stuffing sandwiches for the IOWA game on Friday. Easy and effective.

What, no funeral potatoes? A staple here.

One year, when I lived outside of Atlanta, had my woman staying with me and had Publix cater most of it.

Surprisingly good option when I was working 80+ hours/week.

Sodium citrate is so underutilized. Great for anything cheese, really.

Yep. Since I’ve been using it (about 2 years now) it’s given all my cheese sauce dishes a little boost.

Got wee hammered last night. I find my cooking ambition for tomorrow has an inverse relationship to my hangover

Wifey and I rented a place on the coast so decided to keep it simple. I bought a 15 lb NY roast, cut it in half, trimmed the fat cap gave it an S&P rub, a little Meat Church voodoo and made a compound butter of garlic rosemary and thyme to coat the non fat cap sides

wrapped them up in plastic to chill overnight and I’ll give them an oven roast at 180 when I get up, all through the Lions win, and at around 4 take a temp reading and finish off on the BBQ at high heat until medium rare.

Then make a nice buttery au jus from the drippings and there’s din din. It’s the first year I didn’t make a turkey. Also a little bummed I don’t have a smoker here but the view of the ocean is a nice trade off

We did stop by a local pier and picked up some lump crab meat shrimp and oysters. Might make up ‘not lobster rolls’ tomorrow for lunch and toss the oysters on the bbq with the roast

Wife is making horseradish mashed and pappardelle lamb ragu

Hope all your feasts are also amazing and filled with fun family love and lions!!

I’m there now, then again, no one is relying on my cooking skills, just my dinner financing skill which is completed and causing me to drink.
14lb turkey direct from farm, certified organic…yea, I’m taking a second job.
