As long as the injuries to Hutch and Alim donât result in a drop off⌠it is also reasonable to expect that most of the young core will continue to improve.
I even sometimes forget how many of the key players are still 25 or younger!
Iâm sure the plan is to get DE(s) in the draft, especially early. I wouldnât be surprised to see him move up for his favorite faller. It feels weird to be without Zaâdarius currently, but come May, weâll have all but forgotten.
I actually didnât know what you meant. But it does prove what @Tcmouse saidâŚfans are real quick to call something âclick baitâ when they donât like what they read. If you like itâŚthen its just fine and its not click bait
Two questions for those saying we will address our G or DE needs in the draftâŚ
Has Holmes ever left this team with obvious âneedsâ on the roster going into the draft? Canât really remember exactly, but it seems he has always pretty much covered our obvious needs in free agency and went into the draft with complete flexibility.
Holmes has already been identified as being a BPA drafter. If thatâs true, how are we pigeon holing him into targeting DE or G, or any other position once we get to the draft. Heck, he could go Safety / LB for all we know.
Honestly, I remember only last year as one where holes were filled.
Seriously. My response after both 21 and 22 was we could hold another draft the following weekend and have zero issue adding 7 new players to the 53.
24 had a hole that still exists at WR. Matter of fact, the night of our cut to 53 had only 4 receivers⌠Jamo, St, Lif and Isaiah freaking Williams. Bad close to only 3.
The Edge help we had was a 1-year rental, so DE still needed love (and didnât get it).
The âfills holesâ thought is a bit overstated, IMO, based on how close last year came.
I think weâre entering the draft with clear needs at WR and Edge again. Weâre also going to have DB holes to fill that you wouldnât want to spend free agent money on (CB5, S4).
(I will say that I 100% agree heâs strictly BPA and isnât penciling in âPick 28â as starting this or starting that.) That said, I do believe they have a sense enough of the talent to expect certain positions to present more options than others in early rounds. Theyâre not passing up superior talent at any position, if theyâve identified that player as a Lion prospect. Because, ânot everyone can be a Lionâ. (Iâm going to wear that out.)
Heâs never left us with gaping holes, but he sometimes addresses some positions more strongly that others. Last year for instance, almost everyone agreed that while adding Davis and Amik was good, it wasnât nearly enough. Turned out Brad agreed and hammered CB.
Now it was nice that the need lined up with BPA (even if it required a trade-up for one), but I think he knew heâd have CB options, just like I think he knows heâll have DL and OL options this year. That doesnât necessarily mean it has to be addressed in the 1st, but it COULD be. Honestly it doesnât have to be addressed at all if it falls a certain way, he wonât reach for need over BPA just like he didnât in 2023 when Witherspoon got sniped from us and he pivoted away from CB. But I suspect he thinks the likelihood of that this year is pretty low. Itâs a DEEP DL class.
this is why I say our super bowl window is short. we rebuilt a team really well with a ton of cheap contracts because rookies, and then proceeded to completely choke two years in a row in the playoffs.
This is a hell of a test for drafting. They have done really well so far, and I donât see that changing really, but man how hard are these decisions going to be on keeping certain people over others of similar talent?
