So last Nov 25 I got a bloody nose out of the blue. I have gotten them occasionally but nothing more than a few minutes.
This one would not stop. 30 minutes straight streaming like I filled a 16 oz cup on the way to the hospital.
Couple of causes but main one was when I got to hospital my Blood Pressure was like 200/110
I am still dealing with a bloody nose. Had surgery to to fix inside of nose. That did not fix it. Wednesday had something called Invasive Radiology to freeze out artery that feeds that area of my nose. Still not 100% fixed.
I bring this up to say we need to get our blood checked. Take our health seriously. High blood pressure is not something to ignore.
I will be OK but it is now almost 3 weeks. Have not gone more than 24 hours without a gusher. Things are getting better and better. Now gushers last 5-10 minutes. So slowly it is all healing.
The whole story is kind of bad luck every step of the way. But looks like we have it cornered and just a matter of time and healing.
Again get into see a doctor and take your health seriously. Especially your blood work. This was likely all avoidable if I had been taking care of by BP
Glad to hear you have it figured out and Yeah blood pressure stuff can be scary. If u don’t mind I have a question maybe to help other people out which is how did you feel physically during the time your blood pressure was so high ?I ask because mine is in really good shape and when it gets just a little bit out of range like 140 plus over 95 + I feel like s***. I’ve had friends younger than I am in their mid-40s at the same type of blood pressure readings you have due to life circumstances and they said they felt like their head was about to pop off. So maybe there are some warning signs people can look out for
Sorry you’re having to go through this.
It’s true, as we age, we need to start paying attention to what our bodies are trying to tell us.
The old timers know I went through a health crisis nearly 15 years ago.
Pay attention to your diet. It is the root cause of 99% of our problems. You can’t just put garbage into your temple. You have to treat it like the scared place that it is.
Glad to hear you’re getting it figured out. Health scares are no joke at any age but damn when you get old… You really start thinking these Lions need to win a Super Bowl. I do recommend everyone get a home blood pressure machine. They are relatively cheap and it is a good idea to check it from time to time just to keep tabs. Also as been said on other threads, make sure to get in for your yearly physical. Early detection is the best medicine. Besides, how else would I know that my bladder is three times the size of a normal human? That 200/100 reading is crazy. Good luck brother.
I am a pretty intense human. So my personality was for sure a bit hot but hard to truly discern because I have always run hot.
As far a physical indicators. Some headaches for sure. But I guess nothing I felt was extreme.
With this said. Been tracking BP hard core for 3 weeks now. And man do I feel better. I am 54 so maybe I just assumed my general fatigue and such was normal. It is a solid 110-120 over 55-70
I am also so much calmer internally.
But this has me really thinking about my life. When you are bleeding out your nose and puking blood clots for 20-30 minutes straight for 2 weeks on the daily you start to really ask your self some questions.
Glad you are getting it under control…. Late is still better than never.
With stents in, in blood pressure and high cholesterol meds, bad knees, bad peroneal tendons, bad lower back etc and now 60…. I stay very humble with my body… just went in this last week at the VA in Sturgis SD for chest pains…. Just to be safe…. The doc said it was amazing that I only jog and walk now (but I try to do it weekly) and still have a resting heart rate if 37-44! Blessed but I do my part… eating clean, resting more and while staying active as I can, not over doing it.
Heck I am sitting in my truck right now at the community gym in Sturgis…. I come here every other day and so something …. If we sit too much as we get older it’s bad imho!
Funny I am of course on a serious diet but the main focus is zero processed foods. Mainly due to that picture. I have been working towards that but it now officially go time.
I mean I love all chow so this is not a hardship other than zero bread and pasta.
But I have been buying a pig and lamb once or twice a year from a guy who grass feeds his animals. The taste is so much better. Need a local beef place now. I kind of hate chicken but that is back on the menu per my wife and kids. Well I love wings which are off the menu…
Now I am on the hunt for an egg person. Proving to be much more difficult.
But yeah the process crap and preservatives are not good at all
You probably don’t feel lucky, but man having high blood pressure can lead to a lot of really bad stuff like stroke (which my father-in-law had from high BP) This could very well be a blessing in disguise.
My blood pressure is all over the place but the highest is usually @ 140/85. This was the same day…
I have chronic fatigue, the gift that keeps on giving from having Addisons Disease. Actually doing very well but it took years to get what works best for me figured out. When I was diagnosed life expectancy was 55 or so, that’s because people were still dying w/o getting diagnosed which almost happened to me. I walk daily morning and evening, a way to work through the fatigue. Never be afraid to get 2nd opinions and make sure if you aren’t in a position to be your own advocate that you have someone that can. Guys, if something doesn’t feel right you might just be getting old OR you maybe need to see your doctor. Being proactive is important.
When I was in the ER and things were going insane (the details of that first ER visit are kind of epic and also part of the reason this went from a simple nose bleed to a 3 week ordeal) the Doctors and nurses were beginning to get panicky because my BP was spiking much higher that 200/100 and they we concerned I was gonna stroke out.
No every time I think today would be a good day to reward myself and break my diet I remember the utter hell those 3 weeks were on not just me but even more on my poor wife. I think she aged 10 years and my daughters that live at home have serious PTSD.
I have a follow up coming up and right now they have me on 2 meds. I am thinking they may be able to take me down to 1 as when I sneeze hard I have been getting light headed. And my daughter checks my BP and it is around 110/70ish (that lower number sometimes dips into 60s which does mean shite to me…).
