Raiders would be an interesting choice. They don’t have many bad contracts and seem to be set up well with cap space in the future. Their owner seems to mostly mind his own business and you do have Tom Brady involved now as well.
With that said, they have one of the worst rosters in football. Crosby is likely not going to be a building block through another rebuild, but at least he has legit trade value. This would not be that different from when Campbell took over the Lions, except the Raiders are probably a little better situated with cap space then we were as Campbell had to clear the books and took on a ton of dead money early on.
If Brady and Davis buy in that it is going to take multiple years to truly see the results, I could see it as a possiblity.
Brightside would be that gives us a leg up on a possible Crosby trade.
Hendon Hooker, our 2025 1st and a 2026 3rd for Crosby. I think thats reasoanble, considering Crosby is about to turn 28 and is going to command a sizable contract.
It gives Ben a QB he knows well and some draft capital.
JerseyJungle’s hunch:
BJ gone - Raiders or Jax
AG again does not get a job. Comes in second in both NO and NY.
Just a hunch.
I think he gets the Jets job with the Cowboys a dark horse.
Ben Johnson is going to look like a safe, conservative play-caller after seeing our next guy. Penei’s going to have 4 TD’s next year.
I was thinking of that too.
Lol
That’s probably the best QB option to quick respectability. But the byproduct of being 8-9 or whatever is that you miss out on top tier talent.
Even at 6 this year I don’t know that they’ll get a true blue chipper given the lack of bonafides at the top of this draft.
DC and staff has been grooming positional coaches for a while. Train the trainer to become coordinators so they sustain success within the organization.
They’ve talked about how Ben Johnson has a young family and it kind of puzzles me why they’d want to go to Las Vegas of all cities
…and Arnold would be even cheaper!
The Lions will have their pick of available coordinator options. It will be a dream job to coach our offense or defense.
We may promote from within or we might go outside. Regardless I think Dan has a plan.
They could go after Rogers or Darnold.
I would pay Ben whatever it takes. AG is ok to let go.
Incredible some guys get rich with that nonsense business.
obviously it’s time for MCDC to finally earn his paycheck and take over offensive and defensive playcalling.
Couple more large coffees, no problem.
I’m confused. How is losing Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn going to lead to poorer choices in draft picks?
As long as Brad Holmes is GM and Dan Campbell is HC, I’m convinced that the Lions will be contenders every year so I’m not overly worried about losing the coordinators.
Imagine Tom Brady, Ben Johnson, and Kirk Cousins standing at a podium next to Mark Davis.
