Devers is nearly 29yo….
and has 8 years left on his $313 million deal after 2025.
Sox have to be thrilled to get out of that deal.

They can pick it. The bullpen seems to have the goods (mostly). Is starting pitching beyond Webb and Ray enough? Birdsong’s stuff is off the chain but the control wanes. Roupp’s curve is damn near Daryl Kile like but the rest of the package is pretty fringy. They’ve got Whisenhunt at AAA but he’s a bit like Roupp but his change is the +++ pitch.
Ultimately their likely a bit short on big time playoff starting pitching to take the whole thing but they’ll be a tough out for sure.

Devers can hit… But he is a 29 year old DH making 30 mill a season. I get it from the Red Sox perspective. Plus he wants to play 3rd base. And he’s ■■■■■■■ terrible at 3rd base… Like worst 3rd basemen in MLB bad

He doesn’t look like the most dedicated athlete either. They might be taking on a smaller version of the Cabrera last contract.

He’ll probably be a good boy for a little while for the Giants - they def got better. But in the long run, I bet the Sox are glad to be rid of that prima donna.

What I don’t get is Devers cried like a baby when they signed Bregman cause he wanted to play 3rd base. The Giants have a really solid 3rd basemen. Chapman has won several gold gloves. So Devers is still the DH? Which he didn’t want to be in Boston. That part is confusing.
Bregman can also opt out this offseason on the red sox… They could potentially have neither in 2026.

Yea I really don’t know what they are going to do. Just swept the Yankees. Only a half game back of a wild card. Yet just unloaded Devers.
Well Duran getting dealt seems likely now. I’d imagine the Padres are going to be all over that.
They need to just blow it up and build around Roman Anthony and Crochet.

They traded away Mookie Betts, he has been awesome in LA. They traded away Sale cause he couldn’t stay healthy. Been sensational for the Braves since. Now traded away Devers!
Red Sox fans would be fools to buy any more jerseys of their favorite players.
Once Bregman opts out and leaves it’s gonna be hilarious.

Deavers at his press conference today said he’d play Anywhere that the Giants ask him to. Bedding pool is that he plays first base sometimes the first four games. Lol.

Chapman is currently injured so Devers at 3rd and then 1st coming as a huge ■■■■ you to the Sox!
